laminitis now abscess 2

We are ok - she is selectively lame from lami episode. She is sound if she is following a haynet or grouching at Littles or out alone... But "ouchy" otherwise on near fore.

So three weeks on and not really sure where to go from now. She is sound in boots, but I'm not sure she's sound enough to be ridden. She's being quite rude and opinionated about walking out so not too keen on that :redcarded:.

Added to that a Trec training day at the end of march... Do we reckon I could have her fit enough? She's not worked since December - its two hours work (one am one pm) in sand school. If I can't get a lift there it's also a three mile hack each way. I would love love love to do it, but worried its too soon - with hair fallin out and all!

Hi all not been on for a few days and saw this thread had popped up, fearing the worst I stepped in..... phew! somewhat relieved nothing new - other than poor Madams ongoing issues - think I would be inclined to approach the Trec day with - if fit enough we will go if not leave it alone and not give yourself too much pressure or disappointment if it don't happen, funny thing this lammi recovery - sometimes they come sound quite quickly, but don't think in my experience they come sound enough for a 3 mile hack and then work in the time you are talking, its taken months to get us to a fitness stage for that type of adventure.

Great news from your end Tracey - it must be nice to have nothing other than good news to report.

Much is the same our End, missed 1st show of season due to weather, it was cancelled so not too bad. We have one on Sunday, but 4 x 4 off road at momen with head gasket, not sure if it will be back in time for weekend! so may ave to miss that one ....... weather not too bad either.

Tess and Charlie fine, all having their feet trimmed on Saturday, should have been last week but Farrier muddled up - they where being done a week early to accomadate show schedules - usually like to have a week of bedding in before a show, so only 24 hours this weekend if it goes ahead.

Charlies feet much improved re abcess trauma - hoping farrier is going to say he can start work again....... give us a few months to fitten him up before his first show in May.

Tess has just come out of season - she was very quite but is back to normal bolshy old woman! her coat is coming out in handfuls but she still has best part of a stuffed Sofa on her back!

Weather good -little man is full of himself - soon be able to get him back to ridden every week - (saying touching wood!).

Well that serves me right for posting a reply on this thread, I am just going to say hello in future! All 3 where fine yesterday morning, last night-
Charlie is showing problems with his o/s front - don't think its an injury nothing obvious, gut is saying possible Abcess - lgl is a worry - farrier called and booked for 3.30 I am stuck at work and waiting for daughter to ring and update me -:poop:

Farrier was booked for tomorrow for all 3 , so he will be back in morning to do other two but he said he would rather come out to Charlie today due him still being remedial from his back feet abcesses - he decided to leave extra on last time as he wanted a bit more to work with for his comfort - but his feet have a lot of growth to toe this time no obvious flaring but not what we really wanted -its 5 weeks hence the trim was due anyway.

well farrier came, trimmed, dressed and puliced foot - hes not ruling out abcess but he has a bad sole bruise - the poulice is stop anything getting in and padd the bruised sole - hes been a prat in the field current school of thought - he was very sore so he is going to do rest Sat am when he comes to do the other two.

Farrier came - Tess & Acorn fine - although he has warned that the old abcess damage on Acorns wall will be at floor levl next trim - he will have to cut a triangle to prevent it cracking up the wall and infection so he will fill it as he knows hes showing - won't be big so not too much of an issue.

Charlie was a good boy and has other 3 trimmed - back foot showing some issues but no stretching suspect due to front but nothing major and dressing front foot should sort it - caught by farrier coming out so quick -if in doubt get them out ...
he was going to check a bit further in front for abcess signs but as he was much better for the previois days work hes not .

Charlie is stood straighter today and walking better - we changed the poultice and nothing showing so far.

Don't think we will be trecing - someone hit the back of my car yesterday and now on day two migraine and probably written my car off.

PFB if you still have a headache sounds like a whiplash injury & you must get it attended to straight away.Not fussing as such because I had a bad whiplash injury 40 yr ago which I never had attended to & now have spondylosis (sp) because of it.
 
I didn't sleep much last night as I was to uncomfy so ended up going to a&e at 430am as decided it would be quiet!!! They've checked me out - I suffer from 4-5 day migraines anyway so could be stress too. He happy I was functioning as I should bar soft tissue injury.

I was really wmbaressed on two parts though

1) he remembered me from my last visit six months ago after I tripped on the electric fencing and caused a post to ping onto my elbow which majorly hurt - three days on I went to a&e... He laughed at me then and again this morning. Shameful! I've lived up here five plus years and Secod trip to a&e and both times see same doctor! An he remembers me :o

2) I have a curtosey car, left hospital went to my car - started getting frustrated as I haven't yet Sussed the locking system (it's surprisingly hard!) and couldn't get in car. Looked Round to see if anyone around to help me (7am) to see anther similar car twenty yards away with lights flashing. Id been trying to get in someone else's car....!

hope everybodys well and all hooves :) coming into this time of year :banghead: llwy doing well now bit of a bad time last week he was so ill had bit of colic which so upsetting to see. vet out painkiller and keep eye on him so other nite with sleeping with him in stable god that horse pass wind my than my hubby dose :giggle: taken few day to pass good poos but within 48 hours he was back to his self ? :help: got the threes now so its a battle of the wills between him and me :giggle: but hes doing well, just got over that then a other pony went down with colic she was so ill best her she sec b age 19 she was so ill best her, just dont no what brought that on i put llwy down to his teeth, but this little pony has had lammi before but bit of tlc she ok now, but she was so ill best her.

Great to hear from you Tracey, sorry to hear about Llyw -glad hes improved now, could it be the grass change do you think with the other pony having a touch as well? You will have to win the war of the threes!

hi linda good you hear all is well you and hooves, not sure with llwy unless they have found some new grass but where they are is mud mud and more mud, we havent open up the other fields to them yet, as they all just started staying out from last nite, am keeping llwy and two of the old ponys in for now as dreamer is 28 now and lost a bit of weight so bit worried about her thats the grey pony on my pics. the white pony on pics is in as well as he wont leave dreamers side bless him all big boys and shetties are out. not happy but thats down to there owners. just bit dark early for llwy to be out as look what happen last time last year with his eye, so i would like him in till bit warmer and lighter at nites, or it will be me not getting any sleep.

forgot to say if anybody looking for old mac2s boots in sizes 6 / 7 / 8 all in good order only just coming round to selling them :( still got all bobs stuff. but i no how good these boots are so if anybody needs any for there hooves .

Know what you mean, as soon as weather picks up they bung them out 24/7, warmer weather , grass growing to me is a recipe for colic and lammi for some horses and ponies - those who live out are well prepared for changes and are already living it so to speak - I wouldn't dare turn Acorn out 24/7 on any sort of grass at the moment - he will get 1/2 days on pre-grazed grass April onwards and then out 24/7 when I think hes ready, hes not too happy thinks he should be on it now but it just ain't gonna happen, our Summer fields are rested over winter and now have a bright green growth on them- the other two won't be on them until they have grown some more , got some length in the stem and they will be restricted to a small area of it just overnight to start with - strip graze it and then Acorn will follow on, its not rich pasture but if you could see the size our Tess is on rough winter hill grass - Charlie is on same grazing but right weight - he obviously moves around and his coat is thinner so hes not storing it up like her - diet coming up now for her - those 2 have had two small bales of hay in the field all winter and there normal Happy hoof.- not harsh enough for these hardy natives!

I know how hard it will be for you to sell these boots :( I would be interested in a pair, but will need to check out the sizes as I cant remember how the old macs work. Cass has easyboot gloves 1.5 , would you pm how much you want for them please. Thanks tracey. xx
 
Hi all hope everybody's well, well nice weather is here so grass is growing :banghead: even I no llwy is fine and no hoof problems it's still a worry as well we all no how quick it can go from good to bad. In a short time, I was keep llwy in but the herd is out so he loving being out with all the horses as they all get on so well which is so nice to see,

So stay safe and keep them hooves stay

Hi Tracey - good to hear all well your end - much the same this end, farrier been this morning, Acorn fine but chunk out of botom of hoof wall - the abcess damage from last year growing out - a bit of a pain on start of show season but way they grow should n't be too long - Charlies show season delayed - he has managed to slice into soft sole area in back foot - good news not too bad and slight bruising enough to make him a little sore - abcess damage now out on backs - will be 6 months he thinks before back foot is completely right - due to th lgl episode - meantime conformation will look slightly out - he could do a servere toe correction if we wanted to push his show season but we have decided we would rather take the normal remedial route - he will get a few late locals in in the meantime we will concentrate on his riding education - prob start may- april will just be inhand build up, so Acorn looks to be getting more shows in subject to nothing going wrong - Emma has another lesson with him tommorrow -her lead rein show in April - not quite yet got up downs right but only her second time on him again since last May - we will get there - hes looking good bless him.
Sun shiningg here today - and for rest of week - no sign of rain - looks like we could be heading for hosepipe ban
