Hi all good to hear Lin Charlie feeling better poor man, hope everybody's doing well and coping with ths weather and grass :stomp:

A old cob left my yard last year did tell owner she looking like she's got lammi but didn't listen just found out the old girl she 25 has it big time :stomp: can not belive it hopefully fingers crossed she's coming back so we can look after her she's a lovely horses.

Hi Tracey - great to hear all well your end - Charlies on the up and we have started roadwork with him again - introducing slowley to condition his feet back in - Acorn has got up to the field for a few hours today - he has been off for a few days - felling is it he has taken a knock or fall in field - rest and walking out seems to have done the trick - will see how he is when he comes in lter - Charlie has farrier tonight - so hopefully all well.

Have spent 1st day of my hols mucking the field out - usually do it twice a day but was a day behind due to weather - also tidied up some fencing and had a bit of a one to one with Nuts - she seemed to like the pampering but took it out on Acorn when I let her off - he wasn't sure what he had done wrong - nothing I told him - moody mares he should be used to em by now.

its another fine dry day here again not as warm as last two days but ok!
going off now to check the tack link - I will blame you if I end up spending:giggle:

there are some good prices - but I have been strong and not bought anything - yet!

Farrier has been to Charlie and al looking good and back on track - Sept for backs and december for fronts - barring anymore issues looks like 2013 is going to be better!

Acorn came up from field okay - hes a bit quiet don,t think he wanted to come in -:wink:

Hi thats great news re- Charlie we do keep saying all the hard work and it is pays off in the end , well done Lin xx the tack shop is new on are yard, if you won't something that isnt on the web site let us no, llwy in tonite still bring him in just to get him off the grass he put on so much weight, and worryng me sick specially that am not at the yard as ankles till strapped up and shoulder still in sling, :cry:

Wow things have been so busy all round - madness!

I had the vet out a couple of weeks ago as Rascal was due his vacs and I have changed vets (again - current vet at current practice is leaving - so going back to a vet I had out with the intention of witching too prior to her getting really sick).

Vet visit was fab - no issues at all with getting a blood sample from her, and his vacs all done and dusted. He said he wants her vaccinating for tetanus every four years and no flue due to the auto immune stuff. I asked for a cushiness test (hence blooc test). Got results today, under 29 is normal, she scored 100 - oops! So I'll be running a trial of prascend to see if that helps stabilising her footyness and skin issues. She is currently doing well (a little too well!) out at night on rough grazing and in during the day. She will be coming in over the weekend/early next week though as she is starting to put weight on and looking cresty - I think my fault as she's only been ridden once in six weeks due to time constraints.
 
wow PFB - I thought you had her tested b4 - lets hjope the meds help - are her issues a symptom of this then - long term if you can manage will they reduce? interesting on the tet jabs - can inderstand the flu re the auto immune but with her skin lesion -s she gets suprised on the tets. its so complex - then again she has been since all this started - yes managing with the current weather is a bloody nightmare - I am off this week so have been able to get acorn out for 6 hours a day and hes coping - hes with the other two and running around more , Nuts insists on pushing him round the field grazing - she very dominent with him - Tess is herd leader and shes happy to chill out and watch but she soon stamps her authority if she feels its necessay - I have started putting her and tessin the longer grass paddock every other night now keeping the big paddock down ready for Charlie going on -grass is growing like hell thanks to stupid weather- Acorn can't tolerate in for more than 24 hours so I am getting him out as much as I dare plus hes getting the walk up to the field and back on road every day which helps exercise wise - costing us a fortune in hay and bedding with Charlie up at the yard as well - he is full of it now - no soreness after trim - farrier has dressed them shorter this time as they are progressing well and he did say he might feel it for a day or two but nothing well pleased - meanwhile can't decide wether he had broken a tooth or its normal sheding - 3rd inciser- he cut his gum last night on metal clip on lead rein pi88ing about withit - he been teething past few weeks - its not bothering him eating - will try and get a better look in morning - he a walking disaster that lad -hes due for teeth check but where leaving it till he had recovered fully - looks like he might have other ideas:banghead:

Bet you are glad Rascal is straightforward - have you done anymore showing with him?
 
Rascals little buddy has now got her own pony - hopefully another friends littly will do some stuff with him - he really does love it.

I can only hope it will stabilise her skin - on th other hand she may not tolerate them and it may set everything off - at the moment it is only the (very rare) sunshine that is causing us problems as within an hour of sun her face blisters :(

You will be one of the few thankful for the dull weather then - its good shes coping so far I do hope it continues for you - do you put a full mask on her or does the sun still get her? we used to use the really dense mask on Josh for his eyes and it worked wonderfully - but I am sure you have covered most in your lomg efforts to sort her.... do keep us updated on her progress.

Hope Rascal finds a new buddy soon - they just love having something varied to do and it really helps with the weight as well
 
She is still fully masked - I have given up trying her out in the day as even on cloudy days she is blistering at the moment. I need to get some new fly masks but not sure what ones are good. Have a Rambo one that came with her SI hoody which has lasted years but now coming apart. I have shires ones which are not strong enough - they don't rip but wires snag up and bunch it up.

this bloody weather and the grass :stomp: got to see llwy this mornin:biggrin: hes fine needs to lose weight hes a walking barrel, getting him and two other horse off this grass at nite i dont wont him out 24/7 saying that the three of them are waiting around the gate the same time every nite to come in so lucky really not running around trying to get them in ( hubby) should i say :giggle: but llwys fine he was trying to push me around this mornin trying to get his own way.. with not seeing me for the last two weeks little :poop:

hope alls well with everybody, hows charlies teeth?

Hope the news is good on Tuesday - bet Hubby does too - you will be itching to get back to the ponies proper!

Well it looks like it was a tooth shedding - not 100% sure if he has knocked it - but the replacement tooth is there so we are keeping an eye on it to see how it develops - hes due a check soon so if it needs any wok they can do it then - sedation job - he don't do vets messing.
His abcess has drained - packed it for a few days - farrier been and pleased with it and hes back up in the field today - out overnight so fingers crossed alls well in the morning - hes in with Tess and Acorn is out tonight with Nuts who keeps him moving and firmly in his place.

Not on facebook- keep thinking about it - just never get round to it - a bit of a dinasour the kids tell me!

if i had one wish it would to stop this grass from growing :stomp: can not belive this weather

I'm demented this year. last year was a dawdle and just restrricted and strip grazed but this year I am having to bring Heidi in to detox every 2-3 days. she is only out at night muzzled on old long grass.
She bounces back quick but its driving me up the wall.

hope all hooves are well, llwy doing fine little man had his first hoof trim few days ago he done very well and no humans hirt :dance::giggle: for the last few years hes sorted out his own hooves but over last few week gettin bit long and started to crack, so farrier was very good with him and little man done well, so nice little hooves now. bloody grass :furious: never thought i would say can not wait for winter. been rain here this mornin but sun out now. and we got the Anglesey show here this week. am not going just incase i fall over again :wink::nerd:

Good news on the little man - and I agree grass is a nightmare.

Charlie has just had abcess no 6 - not lame at all this time, found at trim, fingers crossed thats the last of them - hes looking really well in himself.

Acorn is okay - touch wood - up at the yard keeping Charlie company, have split little paddock in half so they don't play fight and end up with injuries, detox will do him good.

Nuts and Tess up at field, Nuts is still round and in need of tummy tuck! beginning to think it is just her:unsure: Tess has held her coat due to stupid weather - but is holding her weight well - suffering with the flies and has rubbed half her mane off -shes greying out now - showing her age.

we are hopefully doing a little show at weekend with Emma and Acorn & Nuts so will see how it goes.
