laminitis now abscess

Hi All,

Just caught up on posts, ouch for poor Bobs! Hope he was bright when you saw him this morn Tracey and well done on your course!!! Go girl!! Also, glad you feel better from nasty infection. I do often wonder how aliens, if ever they came to earth, would survice such a hostile environment!!

Loving the photo's of super-acorn and his hero rider with his boots on! Class!! And it's such a comfort to read his feet are toughening up. Bet those boots are worth every penny.

I missed bigmare's post on Vicky but OMG can mares hormones really get like that? Thought it was just women LOL! There is a stroppy mare at the farm and she gets oestress in her feed. Still headbutts you six feet sideways though. At least you were quick to identify it and get it sorted!! Hoorah you've got your pony back.

I got a job, not sure if you read my post in cafe. Thanks for listening to my worries throughout ordeal! I work Somerset & Dorset now so a change of scenery :). Malt and other boys ok together. He's still keeping to himself as Harv's is still protective of his old mate. May have to seperate as Seb needs grass and Harv's is enormous. I mean on the condition scale 0-5, harv's is probs a 7. No joke. Will take photo later.

Now that I'm keeping job, not sure I want to put M on loan/share. The lady is still interested but think I will change my mind. I feel bad after all the to-ing and fro-ing but that's what stress does to you!!!

:DGreat news Tracey - back on Track - bloody fantastic!!!!!!!!!!

Acorn out if field again, no boots again needed today, the only time he is slow is going out to the field ( not sure how much of that is foot related as he is always a bit stiff first out) by the time hes been out all day he walks in fine considering we always have the "I don't want to leave the field"attitude:rolleyes: We have rain due today, got tomorrow off as we have to leave the existing field to new grazing after 12 years, think Tess may take a bit of getting used to it its been her home for so long, its a mile walk to get Acorn out and then same on a night back in, half and half re road and verges so will be timing it, he may go up with the one boot on and then take it off when I get there initially we will see, don't want him going backwards now. I will be fit it will be 3 miles walking a day:eek: just for him turning out, my daughter will give me a lift back in a morning once I have turned him out.

hope everyone else is well, will pop back in later for any updates

Not this year, it has changed hands and they are going to plough and reseed and then decide what they are going to do with it! it went for silly money put a bid in but no point in paying way over the odds, we will keep our eyes out for something to buy eventually, for now this one is safe for the summers, we have stables and turnout for the boys in winter, hopefully sorted for Tess with full turnout 24/7 over next winter, sort of 97%, its been a bit of a nightmare but hey ho thats life.

I don't drive not that it would help as couldn't lead him from the car anyway:eek:

used to walking so not too worried.

Lindax

Ha hahah!! Lin, Just had image of you leading Acorn down the lane with your hand sticking out of car window.... :D

My imagination runs wild... yet my memory is awful! Forgot fat-cam but will def def def take it tonight. (Have hung it on back of door so I have to look at it before I walk out )

Glad Bobs bum clean and he's okay, keeping fingers crossed he keeps on getting better and better x

What am I like???!!! I took camera and still forgot. There is a good reason... I got to field and, although they all ran over like idiots, I saw M had enormous gash on his back leg!!!:eek: That bloody Harvey!!!! Could kill him!!!!

They've obviously had a fracas and caught M awkwardly. I've cleaned it up and although thank the lord they are not bad enough to stitch I've had to poultice to bring the swell down and I've used two vetraps and half a roll of bloody gamgee. Right on his bloody hock!

I've just got home and I need a glass of wine. I'll take a photo of clumsy fatso tomorrow. Remind me!!

Afternoon all! What an eventful few days, I'm not on Facebook so can't view the pic's pop us one on here so I can see what I am missing..........

Glad Bobs still on the up, they do take a little bit of getting going if they have just got up don't they, acorn is the same some days, once hes been up a bit hes fine....

Well we got them moved and all the electric fencing down and enough up at the other end to make it secure, day off today well thats what I am told, after I walked up this morning to feed them and then I've just got back from another trip up, this time with Acorn with his boots, took him up to show where his friends had gone as he has been looking for them last couple of days, he screamed his head off when he saw them went and had a talk with them, a little graze on the lead rope and then all the way back again, it was a long way for the little man but he did really well, put him in when I got back at 3.00 left him munching his haynet, he screamed at every horse on the way back, past all the liveries from the yard in the Village so plenty of noise  We will both be fit a this rate, way too much grass at the moment for him to have full day on it, he will go up for a couple of hours tomorrow maybe a little bit longer on Monday, need the other two to knock the top off a bit more before he can go on for longer! its got some rubbish in it and its quite rough grazing just there was a lot of it, we have sectioned it into smaller paddocks so hopefully a few more days and it will be okay for him.
The hole in his foot not closed yet so still having to pack it during the day, leaving it open on a night, just spraying with the purple spray to help, feet are nice and cool and no pulses, weighed him and hes holding around 155kg but not looking ribby like he did last year so not concerned, it gives us around 5kg to play with for weight, if he starts over 160kg then it will be weighwatchers for him, hopefully all the exercise and the LP will help keep it down. He looks a right smarty pants strutting around screaming, can see he going to be handful the fitter he gets - aka The Thug is back!

anyway going for a sit down and a cuppa before I have to start that walk again.... once Acorns feet are better I will seriously have to consider me getting on him - now that should be a good laugh all round for you lot if it happens, think may spend more time on the ground than on him, suppose I could just step off;)

keep safe all of you, how are you and Vicky Debs? hope everything is still on the up........

Lx

Gosh that is a walk for you and Acorn - keep you fit!!! You could get a pair of rollerskates instead of stirrups :D:D:D he sounds like such a character, glad he's getting back to old self Linda :)

I've added you both as friends so you can see photos on my profile, that should make it easier to share photos. Hope it works x

Glad that hoofs are well this weekend. Off to badders tomorrow so will post more photos!

Being a bit of a dinasour and not on facebook, accepted your friends request on here but how does that work! :o

when I click on the link in your post it asks me to log in - as I am not a member can't!

anyway great to here from you both - glad alls well your end , how's M today?

No news from Tracey or Vicky so hopefully all well there.

Acorn went into the new field for 3 hours today, he walked up without his boots:) he went really well and at some speed once he realised where he was going, coming back a different thing, he napped all the way back, screaming on top of his voice as not what he wanted, he had his Tea, no heat or pulses but didn't go straight for his hay just rested on his bed, worn out with all this exercise I think, he came back without his boots, its quite a walk for him 1/2 roadwork and 1/2 track and grass so hes getting varied surface work which can only do his feet good. If hes okay in the morning in his paddock then he will go up for a few hours again in the afternoon.
Charlie is a little tubs with fresh grass, Tess is fine....... nice cowpats last couple of days, although have put Charlie on lammi prone as a safety measure and his poo's are nearly normal today - so may try Tess on it and see if it helps her poo's, she is normally sloppy all summer to some degree as soon as she gets Hay its normal so it may help her as well, will let you know how it goes. Have reduced his Alpha Bute and rebuild now and all are on just maintenance of Happy Hoof only Acorn is on Hay on a night , thought we would never get off it, so will be able to start saving now for next winters Hay........never ends does it.

anyway going to get some shut eye, back tomorrow.........

keep safe

No it never ends but that's all part of the fun! Glad his feet are doing well and I guess the different surfaces do his feet good. Funny you should mention Tess's poos sloppy, all the mares at the farm have sloppy poo, they out 24/7 now.

M's scars looking ok, one scabbier than the other but applying healing cream on & NAF mudguard over top to keep water & flies away and leaving bandages off.

Here are piccy's attached... makes it easier. I can't attach as big photos like others do even though I use photobucket - wierd.

Thats better can see now, hows the healing doing now? and I can see what you mean about Tubby - up the exercise it will help get it down, we have just moved grazing and they think their birthdays have all come at once!
Tess is fine she was a little bit under coming out of winter so the extra weight has brought her about right, charlie on the other hand needed to loose a couple of Kg and has done the opposite, they have topped it well now and are not gorging it now they realise it ain't going anywhere, Charlies exercise has just been upped and hes getting a better shape over last couple of days - Acorn went up in the trailer yesterday as we needed to bring some stuff back - not sure what had gone on (can imagine:rolleyes:) but his headcollar had been undone by Charlie (usual suspect). walked down in his
boots but showed lameness,no heat or pulses, so bute and out in his top paddock to see if it walked off, he was much better this morning so dropped the bute down but suspect hes carrying a knock as Charlie is carrying a knock/kick to his face bless him, scrapping youngsters always in bother........ no cuts just bruising, good job they are all barefoot!
Will keep him up in his paddock until weekend just to be safe. He may have found all the exercise a bit too much too soon, so will build up his walking again over the next few days once satisfied nothing else amiss. The abcess hole is about closed now, but will still be a fair dent in his sole until it repairs itself, but looking better each day. Fed up with the weather thought, its done nowt but rain or hailstone on and off all weekend, thought it was going to be a frost this morning but it managed to keep just above, a hazeon the grass and that went quickly.

Hows Bobs doing Tracey?

anyway back in later for updates, back at work:( got used to being off!

afternoon all. sorry not been on over wkend. had bad case of ear pain y-day.. not nice at all but bit better today ( thank god) are bless acorn. just want to give him big hugs hes so sweet. but glad hes doing well. good to hear all is well with everybody, as Deb's been on her page re-vicky? not seen her on here for over a week isnt it? hope all is well there.. bobs is fine still got boots on as ground is hard as rocks. but hes ok still clean bum :) just wish he wouldnt look so sore on hard ground, :( i dont no if he is sore or just unsure of the hard ground?? but hes fine in himself. will have to keep an eye on weight the tape says hes not put any on but by looking at him i think he has?? just have to keep an eye on it. well nice day again here bit windy but sun is out.
pop back in a bit
Tracy xx

Poor you Tracey, glad you are feeling a bit better now, I am sure you will get there with Bobs bless him, its been such a long time with the boots, sounds as if it may take a little time to get him without them, it will be worth it in the end - No point in trying to rush it now you are so close, Did Richard suggest anything for his feet to help? You may already have said , my memory is **** nowadays;)

We have sectioned off the field they are in again last night as Charlie was like Mr Blobby last night with his grass belly, he looks much better this morning on reduced, Tess is looking really well, will see how they are tonight, may open it up for them overnight and then back in the smaller side during the day tomorrow, hes getting 15 minutes work in hand a day now which is helping, will be going up to 20minutes tomorrow. His swelling on his face is going down , it don't seem to be bothering him which is a good thing, you think they would learn but no doubt they will be at it again at the weekend when Acorn goes in, little man bunnyhops at him when he bite his Bum and think he has just not got out of the way in time.

Acorn up in Top paddock again today, he is super sound on grass a tiny bit short on hard stuff but much better, bute reduced today, see how he is tonight and prob take him off it over night and see how he is in the morning, think he has taken a knock in whatever went on Monday! so just leaving him to paddle around in the paddock, no hooning about hopefully!

hope everyone else is well, not seen anything off Debs, Vicky was doing well in her last post, so lets hope its continuing........

anyway best get some work done, Keep safe, speak soon

Morning all!

Well if nots a poorly Bobs we have a poorly Tracy...Hope you are feeling a lot better this week...x Nice that Bobs bottom is nice and clean again:rolleyes: and hoping he's had a good week, the grass is shooting through now isn't it?

Linda, you just seem to be so busy all of the time, not sure how you fit it all in! How is Acorn with the new grass after the rain this week???

LOved your photos Nani - my thats one chunky monkey you have there!!! Did you have a good time at Badminton??? I spent too much as usual!!

Well, guys, my 'Vicky' battle continues (thanks for replying to my other thread Linda!!) We are getting improvements but its going to be a long job. She has so many good points and just this ONE BIG ONE involving her brakes!!! hey ho, had her teeth and back done yesterday so we'll see. Good job I've still got Will as at least Decs can hop on him and canter and jump in the school!!

Anyway ladies, my only big news is that i've got a job!!!! I'm going to work for 'Gatehouse' the people who make the FS1 riding hats that are so very popular at the moment!!! It's part time, allowing me to fit in ponies, kids and mum, and its based only 10 mins from where I live in a beautiful country house, its where Mark Todd is based!!! So looking forward to that!

I'll pop back in later (as I still do everyday!) take care x
