Hello strangers!!!!! Hope everyone is ok, was trying to have a read up on everyones progress. Wee cheeko is doing good so far, got a grazing muzzle on order for her tho, not taking any chances. My life has changed big time .

Had to put my big horse Sophie on loan because i am going to be a mummy in july, still got the 3 shetties and they will be staying. Just hoping that we can have a lammi free time with cheeko.

do hope acorn is better this morin, poor boy and hope he gets to go out today xx bobs fine y-day bit foot sore on one foot not sure why no heat or pulse? but this is his 7 day without a poo's (how sad am i) made up to see poo that looks like poo sun out again today. so hope all is well when i get to him this morin xx big hug to acorn.

Hi, evening all, what a lovely sunny day we have had.

When I got down to Acorn last night he was stood at the door shouting for me,
on inspection there was sign of breakthrough at the coronet so he was obviously feeling somewhat more comfortable, put him up in the paddock for an hour so he could have a walk around, more of a hobble but at least out.
poulticed last night after soaking and less bute!

Farrier came this morning, he wasn't sure at first as the leakage at the coronet is a bit strange, no blown hole or anything more like a wet lump, anyway I am bathing away at that and on with the miracle cream to protect it.

He checked foot and nothing obvious no heat he started to pare as he decided the fronts needed a trim ( 3 weeks again due to the lami) backs are fine, and pop, we now have a large abcess hole, very clean once it emptied, so he left instruction to warm tub it x2 a day for another couple of days, but not to poultice, to pack the hole to keep it clean (cotton wool soaked in purple stuff) but thats all - put him out for 6 hours today, hes a bit tender on the hard ground (nothing new after a trim) but off like a rocket on the soft grass, brought him in at 2.30 to give his feet a rest before I had to do them, he loves the tubbing, infact we've gone from tipping it up cos we don't want our foot in it, to looking for it and lifting it up for me to put down so he can put his foot in it, I am sure he would stand there all day if food was with him Just relieved we know what it is, its gone just like it did last year when he had the lami, mobility issues and then the abcess , so just hoping that the recovery now is the same and hes sound once we get through this.

His other boot has arrived, I fitted the comfort pads into them today, so will fit them on either tomorrow or Monday which should then help not only keep them clean but stop any bruising.

Daughter rang this morning to say Emma has Chickenpox, so no doubt Thomas will be soon - so by the time she is clear Acorn should be ready to be ridden again -

anyway going to watch Britains Got Talent - been on my feet all day, so they are now going up!!!

Afternoon all, hope all well with Bobs Tracey.

Sunny here, not as warm as yesterday but a nice day all the same. We had frost again this morning - I am sure it will have to stop soon

Well today was fit boots day for Acorn, after a bit of faff getting them on and a little nip for my trouble - wow what a difference. He wasn't sure at first until he realised that his feet didn't hurt, he walked all the way down the stone drive for the first time in 14 months since his first lammi attack, set off down the road at trot which took me a bit by surprise and on the way back up the stones he trotted as he wanted to get to the paddock, he's out in the paddock with them on now, been up to check him and so far all seems well - will be going up soon to get him in and I can check for any rubs, hopefully no issues, the gaiter straps hold them in place well, they look a bit clumpy on him but I suppose that's with him having such little feet, they appear to be a good fit and are below the coronet so the pads have done what I had hoped and lifted the foot enough. I am hoping the fitting will get easier as he gets used to it being done, a lot has to be done with me down on my knees. the abscess at the coronet is still leaking and leaked quite a bit more when the boots first went on, but ok when I went up to check, prob just the initial pressure. He's fine in the stable without but tender on the concrete and the hard paddock tried him so the expense of the boots will now be justified he should be able to enjoy his walks out again and be comfortable on turnout until his feet recover.

Not heard from Debbie for while, do hope Vicky is behaving herself and aquired more brakes.

Anyway going to get a cuppa and put my feet up before I go back up to the yard. back in later to check for any updates

its all happening again isn't it....

Poor, poor Acorn, why does this lammi thing cause so much trouble... I do hope that he feels so much better now its come to a head...just love the piccies of his new boots, what a cutie.

Hope that BObs is still doing well and all has settled down... I do miss our photo texts with Bobs and Lucy x

Vicky.....mmmmm, why are things so difficult? After 7 weeks, this little mare was still causing us so much grief and I still was at a loss.... one minute an angel the next the devil! Hacks out like the best pony in the world but a total freak in the school, SO decided to call in the pros!!!! I was sure I was missing something ( and we are on such a big yard and lots of help and advice available, but nothing was working!) We seem to have started to get the school issue sorted, it seems this pony has been 'gobbed' with her bit and she runs into the bridle...hence the bolting, but also he picked up a stiffness on her left rein. We the called in his lady (our new trainer) who had also helped with Lucy, and the poor mare was locked up from head to tail. They advised me to call the vet to sort the season issue out as she was now dangerous (kicking and biting all the time) The vet came and agreed she had season issues and we start Regumate tomorrow....Lets hope this works and sorts the poor mare out (Why, do I have so many problems)... Hey ho, can only get better, as it sure can't get any worse!!! and to top it all the bugger gets a hard neck if left out for more than 24hrs on a bare paddock so have to bring in at night.....

Anyway ladies enough of my nonsence, its nothing compared to lammi, this is just a pain in the arse and can be sorted.... ( IHope)

Great to hear from you Debbie,we lover hearing your reports so keep popping in please, at least you now know whats going on with her poor love, she couldn't be in better hands to get herself back to a comfortable life, Raging hormones can be a begger can't they -do you think she had these issues before and seller not totally honest with you?? Is Declan still getting on okay with her? can't wait for you to start giving us her showing reports.

Just been on Countryfile and they are forcasting Frost all week this damn winter is totally against me, I might leave him in tomorrow and walk him out and then pop him in the field shelter on Tuesday morning and get OH to turn him out dinnertime when frosts cleared - will have to boot him if hes still not too comfortable, the top paddock is very hard and if I don't boot them have to keep him off the sand as I don't want it getting in his wounds!

Hi all, im still reading your posts every day but havent really got much to report my end, farrier did them both last week and said their feet are looking excellent which is always nice to hear
Poppys grass glands were up yesterday so i am going to start bringing them in during the day and putting them out at night. I suppose im just being cautious because she is doing really well, nice and slim, lots of energy with no sign of lameness but we all know the dreaded lammi can strike at any time with little warning.
Sorry to hear about those bloody abcesses if its not one thing its another.

Hey thats brilliant news Tracey I am so pleased for you and bobs - hope he wasn't sore when you brought him in, but don't worry if he is a little it may take a short time for him to transition, hes had those boots on a long while now, I am just so pleased for you after all you have both been through, get those pics so we can have a look at his new feet

Acorn was okay when I brought him in after been in his boots all day ,nothing coming out of that hole in his foot and the breakout site on the coronet looks a bit better, you have to get under all the hair to see it, but the miracle cream is keeping it clean, no heat anywhere on the foot or coronet so thats good.

Saw the pics of Acorn's booties!!! He looks like a superhero! I think he may deserve the title from what I've been reading - glad all the pus is out and it's healing up well. Wish the frost would bugger off for you though L, what a pain.

Glad to hear Bob's is doing much better. Look forward to hearing how he comes along this summer.

Hope Vicky gets more comfortable in herself soon... I'm sure once the issues ironed out she'll be dream pony again...

M is well, YO agreed to let me turn him out with the other geldings . She had to run in and hide when I actually put him in the field even though I said they would do nothing more than sniff and graze. She still watched from the window though and what happened???? They sniffed and grazed... poor lady she must have had some bad experiences. That was a week ago.

He's sooooo happy , that's all he ever wanted was friends. At first one of them started to herd the old pony away from M. But now they're very close all three. They were topping and tailing in a row grooming yest afternoon.... awww. The lady who said she wanted to share M has got a bit busy so that hasn't really taken off yet. In any case, I still haven't got a job so have all time in world to ride and mess about with him.

Since putting him on calc flour, his hooves are really growing and I don't know if I'm imagining it but on the bad front, the sole looks concave!! It was totally flat as typical lami would be. I've started to think about barefoot again and ignoring farrier... but I'm scared!!!!

I'm going to a full day lecture at horseworld near me this sat. They've got lami specialist from lami trust there doing workshop so hopefully I may be able to get some professional advice on the matter once and for all...

Frost again this morning so Acorn up in his FS and OH is letting him out again mid morning. hes a bit of a misery when I go in a morning, no pulses or heat, he walked over the stable yard without his boots this morning more positive, have plugged the hole and put him out today without his boots to see how he gets on, so fingers crossed hes not sore when I go for him tonight, no doubt good foot washing will be needed.
The hole looks clean but still open so don't want anything getting into it, flushed it out with Milton this morning before spraying and plugging. He's off bute on a night now, wormed him last night so keeping an eye on him for a couple of days, but they were all overdue and we like them all doing at the same time. weighedhim and he was 155kg so thats okay, hes not looking ribby but don't want him to lose anymore, when he gets back in the field no doubt we will get back up to his 158kg which he seems to hold at if managed right. Charlie needs to lose about 5kg and Tess about the same, but shes not been exercised since the weekend due to the frost so she'll soon go back, its a bit more difficult with Charlie but he should as soon as we can get him doing a bit more, hes lost about 5kg in last few weeks so going in right direction.

Poor both of you - take it easy you should feel better in a few days once the AB get into your system, have you put his boots back on or is it just the transitioning with him not having been on his barefeet for a while? might take a few days, just watch out for any bruising - suprising how hard this ground is.

Well got back last night and thought it strange couldn't see the little man up in his paddock from the House, anyway gets changed and said to OH was Acorn ok when you let him out, Red faced OH looked wide eyed and said, I knew there was something, he had forgotton to let him out I raced up to the yard and hes stood in his little shelter screaming his head off in protest, let him out and he was very stiff, poor little man I could have killed OH he was in bad books all last night! so I gave him some bute and let him have a little wander in his paddock , fed the other two and seperated a smaller area in the field, popped his boots on and put him out in the field near the others for a few hours, he seemed more settled and less stiff when I took him in. He was much happier this morning, took him down to the field (no frost) put one boot on his abcess foot and walked him down the road a bit tentative on the naked foot on the road but think it was more strange as obviously he was a little lop sided due to the boot - have taken the boot off in the field so left him pottering around the field bootless, hoping hes okay when I getback tonight, will pop his boot back on to take him up, figured if I can get him okay on the one foot then will be less stress when I try him with both off.
hes okay on a bit of road but its a 5 minute walk so not rushing it, need to get him sorted as we move fields at the end of next week and he will have a mile to walk morning and night, okay when hes fit, may need his boots on if he struggles will see.

Just read Debs other post, sounds as if shes got to the bottom of Vicky's behaviour issue, Moody Mare in the extreme -
