Ziggy's hacking diary strikes again

Haway all, Ziggy here.

Sure it's been ages since I posted in my hacking diary. First I had this appalling tummy ache, you wouldn't believe it, and got whipped off to some place where I had to stand in a stable all day and get stuck with needles. Then I came home, which was great, but then I got really sore feet and mum made me stand in a patch of dust all day, which was not great. I've been feeling better for a while, but I hardly ever see mum, she's always stressy and in a hurry and we haven't been out much.

Anyway today it rained for the first time in ages and I had the most brilliant roll. It was fab.

Mum made funny cursing noises when she saw me but it didn't take her much more than half an hour to clean a saddle patch off.

She led me up the road and up the steep stony hill, which is good cos it hurts my feet otherwise. Then at the top of the hill she hopped on from the wrong side, which is always good for a laugh, and off we went.

We walked to start with along the pretty top track:

Everything was fine, so we had a trot up a little hill and then even a little canter along the sandy flat. It was fun and my feet didn't hurt. I stepped out a bit better today, it was a lovely cool day and I quite enjoyed myself.

On the way back mum let the reins go all sloppy to see if I would hurry. But I didn't, I was so chilled she could take a picture while I ambled along:

Then when we were nearly home she turned me to go up to the big posh school. Well that was a step too far, I'm telling you. The wind was blowing a gale, and the grass and the trees were whacking about, and there's a really scary old shed full of pony eating monsters. So I had a good spook and a spin and tried to canter home, but mum made me go in circles until I stopped. :stomp: What's a pony to do?

We weren't out long but I was really tired when I got home...

Awh Ziggy! That first pic is adorable!! Tell me, how do you keep that bit outside your stable so unmuddied? Even with those mats. I'm impressed!!
Glad you got your mam out and about, keep on challenging her with the spooking, gotta keep her on her toes!

Aw always good to hear from you Zigs. Glad you're feeling a bit more like your old self and managing to get out and about a bit more.

Tell me, how do you keep that bit outside your stable so unmuddied? Even with those mats. I'm impressed!!

I also thought the same thing! We have an area outside our stable which turns into a complete swamp in winter - would those mats help there I wonder or would it be too much even for them and they'd sink?! I'd just love to have a vaguely less muddy bit to tack up in!!

Well that's the benefit of sand y'see, drains the water off, but also makes for fabulous rolling and pink ponies afterwards
