Coronavirus

Bloody people why didnt you
STAY HOME.

As of 430 am news second person positive on that school trip and a third will have results later today..

NOW that school closure expanded to the whole week and may expand beyond that.

This is only a few towns away and I'm
Not happy.

I'm surprised the global warming activists aren't jumping all over this touting
Stop unnecessary global travel.

I used to be upset we got the short end of the stick here with our EQUINE AFFAIR
being in November going into bad weather season .
Making it less fun for new things learned and fun new tack. Etc..
NOW I'M GLAD we are not one of the early spring ones..

We have a lady off at work today who has decided to self isolate and get tested. She went to Mardi Gras and flew back last week. Hopefully just a normal cold/flu as she worked all weekend here.

And she has the common sense to isolate, hopefully it's a normal cold.
If it's not she will stay in isolation.

I spent some quality time with the cob today. I looked at her and thought "you've no idea about what's going on in the world have you"

Ignorance really is bliss. :)

Confirmed cases in my county now, it won't be long before it spreads more, people are still flying back Italy etc, but, hopefully for the sake of everyone it's contained.

Yes I thought along similar lines today when I was out walking with madam. She lives (as they all do) in that wonderful ignorance.

Exactly. I think unnecessary trips, particularly to some places, is plain irresponsible and wish that travel to them was banned - for once the nanny state could actually be useful. Someone at the yard is going on holiday to northern Italy at the weekend . . .
They probably won't be able to get back, if they went.

I copied this from our local health thingy about the isolation testing pods at one of our hospitals.
Pods must have
  • Adequate signage and information at all entrances and exits to stream individuals with coronavirus concerns to the pod and away from normal clinical areas.
  • 24/7 provision (or throughout opening hours of the receiving unit) of an isolated area with clear visible instructions asking individuals to enter the pod and call NHS 111.
  • A confidential environment for individuals and healthcare workers.
  • The name of the receiving unit and the number of the phone in the pod being clearly displayed.
  • Posters inside the pod instructing individuals to call NHS 111 and follow the instructions they are given.
  • Posters recommending individuals call NHS 111 using their mobile phones if possible (this makes it easier for NHS 111 to call the individual back, and to put the individual in contact with the receiving units).
  • A “Direct Dial-in” landline phone to be used if individuals do not have a mobile. “Direct dial in” is defined as a phone (and number provided clearly within the pod) that NHS 111 can call the individual back on without going through the hospital switchboard.
  • Areas linked to the pod, with associated local staff training protocols, for donning and doffing of PPE in accordance with PHE guidance.
  • An agreed “priority access line” within the receiving unit (i.e. the ED, UTC, MIU or WTC) that NHS 111 can call i.e. a designated number that NHS 111 can use to contact the receiving unit that is staffed throughout the unit’s existing opening hours.
  • Appropriately trained staff available 24/7 (or throughout opening hours of the receiving unit) to provide decontamination services.
  • Appropriate clinical waste plans in line with coronavirus PHE guidance.
  • A suitable waiting area if the pod is occupied and more individuals arrive
  • Measures to identify when the pod is occupied and information regarding where individuals should wait if they find it occupied.
  • Patient safety standards, as well as security standards, which are expected of other clinical areas.
  • Access to isolated toileting and hand-washing facilities which can be appropriately decontaminated if used.
"Receiving units must plan for the possibility of queues forming if more than one individual arrives to access the pod for NHS 111 assessment and this should be incorporated into planning documents.
"The following should be incorporated into plans:
  • Individuals must not be grouped with other members of the public awaiting use of the pod i.e. provisions for isolation should be made.
  • Individuals may be grouped with family members or household contacts.
  • Local plans for care of children and vulnerable persons should be made.
  • Waiting areas need to be decontaminated to the same standards as the pods.
  • If local infrastructure dictates that isolation is challenging, please contact your regional EPRR teams to discuss this issue."

Never seen anything like this before.
quite how they intend to achieve this when they can't cope with normal conditions is beyond me.

This is pretty much the final straw for me, I expect given we supply the meetings and events industry, that our work will just dry up totally. So first of all I will need to cut costs and cut down on the number of equines, this combined with being unable to get anyone to empty the muck trailer is the perfect storm. so the two young donkeys will be taught to load over the next week or two and then they go

I think there are many, many of us who can think of a million ways our lives could be very seriously impacted by this virus if it does go totally tits up, myself included. But I won't bore anyone with the details of how it could derail my life completely - you all have enough of your own shite to deal with if it all goes downhill rapidly, without listening to my troubles at this time. We need to keep it all in perspective and knee jerk panic reactions will not help ourselves or others around us.

It will need to be some sort of Armageddon before any of my animals get moved on or PTS because of something that hasn't even happened yet! When I can no longer feed or care for them when I cant buy beg or steal feed then they will be PTS - no point moving them on as all animals will be in the same position should the worst case scenario develop. Better PTS at home where they can escape the mayhem with dignity and without stress.

The money is coming from somewhere. Depending on where bj actually did say he would invest in xx million pounds and bring people out of retirement.

Forgive me for being black and white or simplistic, but surely stopping people from China coming here initially would have stopped us getting it.

Yes Newforest i think measures like that would have helped a lot.

The scary thing is shutting flights to just
PARTIAL AREAS Milan...etc.
Horrible people will just make their way to someplace else..hop on a plane AND SAUNTER IN.

On the news last nite.
Our regular flu season so far has had 32 million cases. 310 thousand hospitalized and 18 thousand deaths .

That seems staggering given we have flu shots.

This bug has much worse tendencies I wonder when they do finally get a vaccine what the numbers will be.

This is what I call perspective.

It's that in America?
Wow for the numbers. What's your population? I forget I am on a little Island of 66 million.

Well they said last night the vaccine could take a year to develop. Think it will be a little late if they don't take some strong measures. There won't be anyone to vaccinate as we may all be dead before then. If it takes hold like China. Has anyone seen if the spread has slowed down over there yet. I haven't heard anything in the snippets I've seen.

I think China are claiming it is slowing down which would be wonderful news if it was coming from almost any other government. I don't believe one word that their propaganda machine spew out frankly.

I think the whole thing is out of hand in the papers. Each headline warns of yet another consequence. It's just not very helpful. When you read statements from the PM like "wash your hands sing Happy Birthday" and then on the other hand he wouldn't answer a direct question about worst case scenario. Plus we are reading now how the army may need drafting in. And that policing will become limited. It's just not very good - it's like it's almost encouraging chaos and mayhem! And the shops are apparently drawing up plans for food and allocation. And worst cases. I don't know what to believe now.
