Coronavirus

I see where you are coming from @Jessey, but I still can't help thinking there is much more to this than the powers that be are letting on.
I don't ever remember swine flu, bird flu, Ebola, SARS etc causing this much chaos in the past, I certainly don't remember seeing 'isolation pods' outside our local cottage hospital but we've got them now??

I was saying this the other night to Mr T. I remember the SARS things but it really wasn't an issue. I don't remember reading day after day of updates on it.

I'm in a bit of a different mindset before this.
I don't go away I have my horses and goats at home so I'm in my own bed every nite.

I also yes its Insane thinking most would say....
I WOULD NOT Get on a commercial plane
To go anywhere for any reason.. on so
Many levels..

I have a private pilots lic. But I have not flown for quite some time.
And don't need to.

.

I'm not one for going on holiday or travelling either.
But I think do think it's difficult for people who are made to travel for work. Like @Jessey she has no choice I shouldn't think. It is a difficult situation all round. :(

There was plenty of hype over all of those, but it's forgotten pretty quickly too. I don't think there were isolation pods before but think they have been brought out after lessons learned from the previous (albeit less infectious) coronavirus outbreaks.

That's a good point there - maybe the pods etc are lessons learnt from previous lesser known outbreaks of virus strains.

Ebola stayed for the most part in Africa
Symptoms came quickly.

Also it is so deadly that people don't survive to pass it round easily, plus very strong biosecurity measures were put in place. Corvid 19 isn't as deadly so extreme measures aren't warranted, but it gets around more because so many people who have it are still well enough to function.

Yeah I think that's part of the problem - folk don't show symptoms right away do they? So they could have unknowingly given it to others. Hmm.

My ex colleague who is based in Sydney Australia also confirms that her work is being affected, lots of cancellations too. Seems odd in that it is slowing down in China, so why are we panicking about the very few cases we have had here.

That's good it's slowing down in China, there's hope for us here then. Looking at it and reading some of the news articles it seems the government can't do right either way. If they give people the wrong advice and say it's okay to do stuff etc. Then they'll be in bother if it does escalate, cos people will want to know why they didn't say anything.

I just got a global email from my health
Insurance that said.
If you think you have symptoms .have traveled.. or think you have been exposed etc.
DO NOT GO TO YOUR DOCTOR WITHOUT CALLING FIRST.

THERE will be a protocols as to where and how you will be seen.

That is good sounds likely they will try to keep people elsewhere off sight in more
Secure locations.

Weirdly out of the blue ive had a text from my doctors surgery today saying i havent had a flu jab. I have been offered them before, but ive never had one. Its just odd with all this virus news that i get invited for one.

If you've been offered one, I'd take it. I pay for mine, always have done. Our surgery orders one in for me and a few other patients to pay for (as we are Scotland and it's free if you meet certain criteria as Mr T already does). I think they are probably thinking that you don't want to be getting "normal" flu and be already poorly.

A local gp was on the radio saying that we need to be taking this very very seriously. There will be deaths in this country.
That is a bold statement to make.
We are more connected online that the previous outbreaks, so maybe if we didn't physically see something, we didn't know?
I remember Ebola and Bird flu, but I only recall watching the news. I wasn't on a forum discussing it. I wasn't reading the online papers and science documents either.
