On an island
Is anyone worried about it? Or you think they will find a vaccine soon? I don't have a telly but I do read the new headlines online and it just keeps popping up every day and there seems to be lots more articles about it. Have any of you given it any thought? I must admit I am a bit worried because it sounds so serious and my Mr T already has two health conditions that mean he's not as good at fighting off infections like this as other people. He has asthma too which is a worry. Sorry to be gloomy but I was curious about how you guys felt.

I’m a bit worried if I’m honest, I have no spleen so am at risk of any infection, especially respiratory ones!
Im probably in the wrong job really as am customer facing and I hate it when people come into my office coughing and sneezing, too poorly to go to work but happy to share their germs with me, my desk is full of anti bac wipes, anti bac hand stuff and first defence.
As for flights, with you on that one @Frances144 horrid places for germs to populate.

Oh, not the boat. Definitely not the boat. Anyway, it doesn't go to the London!

I preferred the boat to flying last time we visited relatives south. The plane was faster but goodness me, Manchester airport was like sardines! I had forgotten there could be that many people in a small space all at once  o_O

Well we are already in the London, Frances with no masks and are 80. We hope they contain it as we have a book we want to finish writing.

Weather has kept us home but there was some sun today. I meant to go and groom the mare, but instead we went to a big museum with lots of foreign tourists in evidence and not a single mask. What happened to your China daughter?

Funny enough i asked someone today if they knew what the symptoms were as coronavirus came up it conversation. I hadnt read up on symptoms. Im trying to keep a wide birth of anyone i know who has recently been overseas. One of my clients has a daughter who has just been to france on a skiing holiday so i did think twice.
I have a neighbour whos other half used to work in hong kong. Not sure if they still do to be honest but i think i shall give them a wide birth for a while just in case.

The boat takes up too much time. I need to get down in a day. Not a night and a day.

Yes that's why we flew last time - I had a horse to take delivery of the next day - so had to be there pronto and back. Luckily the flights all ran smoothly. It felt most odd getting back so fast - we were only away the one night.

Not for myself, but my OH has cystic fibrosis and is going through the process of being added to the lung transplant list, so it is a bit of a risk for him - but to be honest, winter season always is a risk with cold and flu.

If anything, work has gotten easier as people are being sent here work from home into self quarantine if they have any cold symptoms. They are also being made to go into self quarantine if they've been in contact with anyone high risk (e.g travelling to SE Asia or Italy) - so risks are arguably lower for my OH than usual.

"China daughter" is here at home, job hunting.

I have hardly given it a thought, I don't watch or read the news really, just heard chatter about it. But perhaps I should be concerned as I'm off to Vegas and LA in 2 weeks, multiple flights, none desperately short, and bus rides. Is antibac hand stuff even effective for it? I might have to get some.

They are recommending to be vigilant and wash your hand so id say maybe some gel might also be useful. Avoid people with a cough if you can.

Thanks, avoiding people with cough's might be a challenge, but it might get me some more space on the plane (I have allergies so have a little tickly cough almost non-stop) :D

I have had to give it a lot of thought as we have some of our products made in China for conferences and events and have some due in this week and shortly after. Had a lot of extra work trying to get them made in the UK if necessary, but have been assured the factory is back at work and catching up. My OH has heart condition, so that's a concern, but we are very rural and haven't flown in years, so we would have to be very unlucky to meet someone from Italy or China. My only hope is that it may serve some positive good in terms of China waking up to how their food markets are run and that eating bush meat wild animals is not sensible, so I really hope that some positive welfare might come out of it. Having said that, if i had it, your chances of it being contained are probably higher in China than Italy.
