do you regularly use one?
Once a year or more often?
Why?
How much does it cost?
Just curious as it's not something I've really thought about. I personally would only go to a physio if I had a problem, as my horse is very fit, looks and rides even, it's not really crossed my mind.
Discussion about it today on yard, one person gets one out every year ' to check everything is ok' another ' used one once but thought that she was recommending further sessions to get more money as horse felt perfect'

On a similar topic, I currently ride in a treleess saddle ( properly fitted when bought) but am considering a treed. I would definitely get a treed saddle checked twice a year. But know two people who ride in a treed saddle. One had it professionally fitted two years ago but never checked since. The other bought off EBay

Not sure why I have such differing views on the two subjects.
I am going to get recommendations for a physio in my area though.

I have mine checked by a physio once or twice a year, even if I don't have any particular concerns. I try to use a vet physio with accredited qualifications.

I like to think I am quite good at checking saddle fit - and checking for any associated pain responses. I do have them properly fitted and checked.... as well as assessing them regularly myself.

Do you regularly use one -yes as in we have one we use.
Why- three answers. First because the cob had an injury and locking stifles, the vet felt she would benefit when I got her as a baby. Its sports massage that she has. Initially it was every three months, changed to six, changed to yearly.

Two now I only book if I notice a problem that can't be explained by other checks. So after box rest she had a session before I brought back into work. I knew she would be tense.

Usually it's £50 shared visit with another on yard. Which brings me onto three, because she loves it! :) If someone else happens to be having our lady I might include mine because I know she really enjoys her session. So she was seen in October.

I have a Bowen phsyio come and give Ben a treatment every 6 months. He really benefits from it and it puts my mind at ease knowing that she always says there are no significant problems. I am considering getting 6 monthly chiropractor appointments as well as the chiropractor works alongside the Bowen treatments. Ben is getting older and is doing more dressage these days so I want to make sure we find any problems before they appear.

I use chiro/osteo/massage whenever I think they need it, jess is an expert at overdoing things in the field and could sometimes get stiff when we were doing lots so a good massage was only fair :p
When she had been consistently lame I got a physio out (she was still under the vets and insurance and a vet physio is the only thing they recognise and will pay for) and she gave her the all clear, it was mostly as when you limp a lot you can carry tension elsewhere which can compound the issue so we just wanted to check.

Yes I do use one. Sox, when is actually in work is a few times a year. I normally do it yearly anyway as he does get tight in some places/sore etc. He does have a long back and can be sore so he used to be done every 4 months. Now its yearly. Was 40 quid now 50 quid.

Used one on J following vets advice. Storm had one or two sessions following vets advice, so it must have been a vet approved person we had. Its a long time ago. I think it might be nice to get both girlies massaged. Maybe something I could look into.

Mine has physio/osteo every 4/5months. I'd rather keep on top of things before a problem appears. Pay around £50. Teeth and saddles are done every 6 months again to keep on top of everything.

McTimoney every 4/5 months, as that is where the first signs of a problem is picked up. Shadow had his hock fused three years ago, so early signs of problems would be over compensating else where if the other one starts to go the same. Better to pay for a few treatments a year, than get a shock and a huge vet bill.

I also listen to what my farrier notes. After recent visit mine had worn down her outside fronts. I swear she used to wear down the inside when younger.
So hoof change show up potential issues as well.
