hi i am 37 been riding for 8 months and am thinking about doing stage 1 BHS. what riding skills do i need & what stable management skills do i need
Thanks

I think after 8 months riding unless you are riding every day you are unlikely to be be ready.

If you are at a BHS RS why not ask about Progressive Tests as they are cheaper and lead through 6 tests taken at your own centre to the equivalent of and an exemption from Stage 1

Agree with eml, but nothing stopping you working towards it.

If they are a member of the ABRS, the school will be able to put you through their progressive tests. They are a good place to start, dead easy to begin with and have a set of stable management tests to go with them. As you work your way through these tests you can measure whether you are ready for stage 1.

I think if you put the work in it is doable, if you're not expecting to do it next month or something. It's nice to have a goal to work towards. Look under the education section on the BHS site and the syllabus is there (as a PDF).
