Random thread.
I am reading Miranda Hart. Started with the first book about her and the dog and bought a second.
Them I want to read Fern Britton, from book one through to the one she was talking about when I went to see her.

I do like to read the series from book one through. I am not keen on starting somewhere random unless that's what got me into the author in the beginning.

I also have a book cushion thing. It's a triangle shape and it's not as comfy as I had hoped but it will do the job.

I'm not big on non-fiction - but I do read the odd one.
At the moment I'm totally addicted to Freida Mcfadden novels. They are fabulous thrillers. I'm currently reading Do Not Disturb by her. I also love Fiona Veitch Smith's character Clara Vale and have just finished her latest instalment. And I'm casting my eye for the hundreth time over Mr Trews first book in his Lion Hall mystery series. You have no idea how many times you can read a book and NOT see errors!!! He's self-publishing within the next few days. Overall its been fun and I'll be reading the next one soon!
Oh and I love Miranda James Cat in the Stacks mysteries, they all feature a maine coon cat called Diesel (due to his loud purr!) what's not to love!!! Oh and I will have to mention Nancy Warren as I've read more or less every single one of her books and particularly love the Vampire Knitting Club series. :D 🧛‍♀️

I’ve done 6 audiobook's this week, a mix of mystery, fantasy and sci-fi. I couldn’t afford my habit if it wasn’t for the library service!

I just finished one this evening, my next pick is TG Reid, not read any of his/hers before so shall see later.

I’ve just had a binge read. It started by watching The Other Bennet Sister on TV, which I enjoyed - so I read the book, then re-read Pride and Prejudice, which reminded me that Persuasion is my favourite JA book, so I re-read that too!
For non-fiction, I liked Frankly (Nicola Sturgeon), A Different Kind of Power (Jacinda Ardern), and Starchild (Maggie Aderin) - these 3 all on audio books, read by the authors.

I used to listen to stories on the old LP years ago, but can't get into the audio books

Have you tried adjusting the playback speed? It sounds irrelevant but honestly it made a huge difference for me, I struggle at the recorded speed but increasing it a little made the whole difference, I have a few friends who say the same.

Currently catching up on some older Jill Mansell light-hearted chick-lit from about 15 years ago!

I just cancelled my Audible subscription because I like to listen to something when I'm walking the dogs and have now moved on to podcasts, but some good autobiographies recently were Sarah Beeny, Susie Fletcher (the saddler on Repair Shop) and Jeremy Renner's account of his awful snowmobile accident, that was gripping.

My favourite recent book, by far, is Ultra-processed People by Chris van Tulleken. It's a shocking listen/read. This book has radically changed my and my husband's eating habits for the better.

I must be about the only one who doesn't read. I get a free Runners World magazine each month. I just gave about 4 years worth away. 99% were unread. Having cleared out i told myself id start reading the new ones that came through. Well ive read about 6 pages of the Jan issue. Febs is unopened and March's edition is probably in the post. I'm such a slow reader.
I was listening to audio books but most of the free ones on Google play are murder mystery, which got a bit much last year when mum was so ill. Last thing you want to listen to.
I found a few free light hearted ones to listen to, but for some reason I havent fancied listening to audios.
I felt a little inspired by this thread though. I'd started listen to a Cowboys Stolen Heart months ago. Today I've been listening to a bit more of it, so thanks.

I stopped reading at one point a few years ago, but I'm really glad I got back into it. For me it was needing something to stop me fixating on a health issue I was having at night. So out came the books. And then I bought an Amazon fire thingy (like a small ipad) and realised how many books I could get. I wouldn't be without one now and either buy reasonably priced ones off Amazon or use their library and borrow books then return. I do like an audio book now and again - but I don't have any subscriptions to that. I remember having cd's that my mum lent me of some old favourites to listen to, that was quite enjoyable.
I enjoy fluff mainly - takes my mind off worries.

Last week I read "Howl" by Howard Jacobson which is a post October lament, and OH then found Jacobson's "What will survive of us?" in the library and borrowed it. So that is what I am reading just now. He is a difficult author.
I rarely re-read but I do watchthe same flms over and over. On the computer I watch netflix Queen's Gambit almost every year.

Get the Libby app and a library card, there’s 1000’s of all genres to pick from all free

I did have a library card but it's very old and wasnt recognised when i tried it on the Libby app before. Need to go into my local library.
It does annoy me when all these apps say you can get books for free, but the reality is you have to subscribe to get access which costs. So it's not free.

I could try that thanks as wouldn't have thought about that.

I was able to apply for a new library card online, it was a little bit of a faff but arrived within the week and I’ve definitely used it enough to warrant the 15 minutes it took me!
