welsh section d question

ok probably gonna sound lyk a right idiot:eek: but are welsh section d's meant to have long feathers around there feet??? obviously this one isnt a welsh section d but lyk these feathers??

They are meant to have a small amount of silky feather.

If you look in my album of Joy my sec d you'll see that even though she has less than the pic you posted her feather is still far too much to be desireable. :)
 
yeah i see what you mean but does it matter if they have long feathers like at shows or anything really ? :confused:
 
In days gone by some bright spark introduced Shire blood to Welsh cobs to make colliery horses. The results were coarse heads, dishing and lots of feather and the cross fell out of favour quickly. Cobs with lots of feather were looked down on because of this.

History lesson over - in the showring some feather is acceptable but not heavy feathering as in traditional cobs.

WPCS description;

Some silky feather is permitted but lots of coarse wiry hair is objectionable.
 
thanx:Di just got confused as a friend just bought a welsh section d and she has really long feathers close to the ones in the picture.:)
