The prep for this one, same as last time, open up the dude if the paddock for shade. Will likely leave that open based on where they are.

She's had a shave. I can't really say clip although it's Irish, not much actually came off.

I can only hope this forecast is wrong!!!
We've never been up at 100f

Dreading it TBH, can’t bring in cos stables are boiling hot, I’m going to try and rig up some kind of paddock where she can go in the stable if she chooses but it’s difficult on a livery yard as I have to consider other livery. We’re forecast 36 tomorrow and Wed and 38 on Thursday 🥵

It’s ridiculously hot for this country, I’m mentally preparing for 3 visits a day if it hits what they’re predicting. It beat the forecast every day last week so I’m cautious it could be higher. Given the stated temps are in the shade, it’s going to be a lot hotter in the sun.

I’ve already made up some salty Speedibeet to get extra fluids in them all in the morning, and will probably soak some hay to try and convince them to stay in the shade rather than go out grazing. And if I do a lunchtime visit it will be to hose them down.

You're lucky you're on the coast @newforest , at least you're more likely to get a breeze than I am. Forecast has improved slightly for here, if Met Office is to be believed, so 34c today 36c tomorrow and 38c on Thursday. The downside is the wind forecast has also dropped significantly so I doubt it will feel any better and indeed may feel worse.

Being right on the coast is a lifesaver when it's this hot
32, 34, 33. That's centigrade not miss world stats for those if it's old enough to remember that. 😂

I had a little paddle today and came across two types of jellyfish I think.

My hay got baled yesterday. All 1800 bales. Then it rained for 2 hours. Hopefully it's dried during the day with the sun.
It has rained everyday here since it got cut last week. Nightmare. Temps might be up.Hardly any sun though. Not ideal haymaking weather.

32 here at 6pm, I didn’t check earlier, horses were quite upset tonight as there were loads of horse flies and I’d left them rugless because of the heat. They weren’t sweaty all over but monkey had sweaty eyes.

I hosed them down, put fly rugs on and hosed those down and opened a patch of grass in the shade.

I tried to hose Dan but he thought I was trying to murder him, he wasn’t sweaty at all as has been in the shade all day, I just thought he might enjoy it.

The next 3 days say 32, and Friday 36 but today was only meant to be 28 so we will see.

I ordered them a battery fan and a mister to attach to the hose which I’ll install in their shelter, it should be delivered tomorrow, not sure they’ll like it but I can try.

Hotter today than yesterday.
But a nice welcome misty start.

@Jessey I have seen horses standing in front of fans. I guess it depends on them.
Mine loves to play with the hosepipe but had a meltdown with someone rinsing their car, she could have spun me off!

She wasn't white with sweat this morning like she was the last heatwave, so I am hoping the shade and shave are helping.

We have the farrier tomorrow poor love and it's meant to be hotter still.
