The Health Blog 2014

When watching what you're eating, do you ever have days when your tummy just seems constantly hungry?! Past couple of days my tummy has been growling away after I've eaten! It's making me feel hungry but I've just had a meal so can't be?! Think I need to swap around my food groups, cut down the carbs and increase protein.

Went for a nice walk this morning and had a big bowl of porridge for breakfast. I'm now sat at my desk and my belly is growling!

I know what you mean. Sometimes when I have a really wholesome healthy breakfast - hi fibre sort of thing, I feel really hungry quickly, even though technically I shouldn't!

well i am still struggling..keep attempting the fasting but tbh i cant be bothered. I have been going to spin class every week since around the end of may time and the instructor is a proper fitness head. He takes part in iron man and other such crazy events - anyway he told me off for fasting and explained why it was a bad idea (lots of talk glycmic index etc) and how the body needs x amount of calories of a day in order to properly function. Debating on trying SW again?

I don't seem to be getting anywhere either, I'm just not in the right mindset. Trying to carry on though and make as good a choices as I can.
Reasonably good today, started with a spinach omelette. Looked amazing, tasted awful and made me feel rather queasy! I think it was more because I'm not used to savoury stuff for breakfast. I may try it again but for dinner or tea!
I have crustless quiche and salad for lunch with a fat free yoghurt. Not sure on tea yet, probably chicken or jacket spud.

It's weekends that are killing me at the minute, I just turn into a human dustbin

I am doing okay (ish) my weakenss atm appears to be beef hoola hoops again! Blame Sainos as they were on offer and I bought some. Whoops. Not good.
Even WORSE today, I am sat here in Maccy D's! OH has gone visiting the dragon (its her birthday) and I couldn't face sitting there listening to an hour of how she's been for this test and that test and how she feels off colour and nobody goes to see her and why doesn't he ring her more.....you get the idea! Sorry for ranting. Anyhoo long and short of it is I have ended up eating two hash browns. Not healthy but could have been worse, I could have ordered the egg muffin......
I will do better later.

same as me jovi ..week goes fine. Its weekends i find hardest to contend with. :(

The plus side is that i have only gained a couple of pounds since april time - i am mostly staying the same (at least this last month or so) which means i am obviously eating the right amount of calories but not so great as i am still eating too much to lose.

Right, I really need a virtual (and very real) kick up my expanding backside!! I'm just yo-yoing at the moment and hovering around the same weight. I have no excuse but my own laziness, I just feel very, meh, at the moment! Why the thought of being healthy and more energetic, being able to wear nicer clothes and get back in the saddle is not motivating me I don't know :(
I'm going to have forgotten how to ride by the time I get light enough to!
Eat less, move more. Why is this so hard!?

I feel your pain jovi. OH got a total shock at the weekend. He's weighed himself for the first time in ages and has put two stones on. I can't let him ride Storm again until he shifts it, its just not fair on her as she's older and stiff etc. He doesn't know why he's gained weight, but personally, I feel he is in a bit of denial over the amount of snacking he does! He has to take pretty strong steroids for the rest of his life and I wonder if they have contributed? Prior to coming to live here he was a stick insect but since getting UC and having to take massive doses he has piled the pounds on. I am trying to motivate him into running again and doing his other exercises. He is sooooo busy and I can see his point though, when he claims he does not have time. The other day he worked flat out for twelve hours and only managed a quick shower!!!
So hard. I am struggling because once again winter is due and a lot of my tops are tight - very depressing because I have been cutting back. Dam middle age!!!

Poor Mr T, the steroids definitely won't help. My mum has had to go on them for the last 6 months and she's gone from a size 8 to a 14/16 in that time.
My OH has always been a stick insect, but he is developing a gut now! We both need to be healthier but just enjoy food too much! Moderation isn't something we're good at, so not really helping each other!

i have eaten 2 x krispy kreme doughnuts this morning - someone brought in 2 boxes . They are so good. Its no wonder i am fat when i cant control my scoff impulses :(

I enjoy my food more than drinking - and since stopping smoking eight years ago its got harder and harder to not eat too much!! I look forward to all my meals - I know how the horses feel now!lol

I had a good lunch too. Home made split yellow pea, carrot, corriander and chicken soup. Made up from left over bird scraps really, with a dash of cayenne pepper in served with brown bread. Was yummy. I feel full and sleepy now though.... Could do with a zzzzzzz

I had tomato soup and a packet of quavers for lunch, it was yummy but not filling enough. I'm starving now!
Need to find some low calorie but filling lunchtime recipes, and actually prepare them! I need to up the protein, that fills me up.
Have decided on a baked sweet potato with beans, ham and cheese for tea. I have also dusted off a couple of my workout DVDs so will try to complete one before OH comes home. At least I'll have some extra calories free should I get the munchies!

I think my breakfasts must be okay for me and quite filling as I never need to snack before lunch. The afternoon is a different matter tho, I nearly always want something around 4pm. We don't eat our evening meal until about 9pm so its a long stretch! I am trying not to eat for the sake of it too which I sometimes do in the afternoon.

I'm in week 2 of couch to 5km and still enjoying it. I'm watching what I'm eating, especially when I don't really have much time to eat at my job. Two weeks off soon (joys of teaching) so I'm aiming to ride both horses each day and keep up running. Jazz is on full livery and Cheeky isn't doing too much so I have only been riding at weekends.

Buckwheat crisp bread and a little bit of peanut butter is really filling and keeps me going for hours.

First spanner in the works for this week, my sister has announced we're off to the Chinese tonight for my nephew's birthday! Whilst yummy, not great for being able to count calories!
Glad I went for a nice, long walk this morning and have had sensible options for breakfast and dinner!
