Hi all

I've not posted in here before (had a few lurks) as I had not really been considering a pony due to my height (5ft7) and weight (13st ish, but hopefully decreasing!) but having had a look at your posts it seems it's possible!

I'm would certainly class myself as a nervous novice as I have returned to riding after a 13yr break and although I was competent in my past life (!) being able to gallop, jump etc I have turned into a right nervous nelly that still clings on when we canter this time round!!!

I am all over the place at the moment as I had found a horse to buy (my 16hh RS horse) but it has fallen through because he failed the vet check (he's developing cataracts, poor thing).

I am now unsure whether to:

1) share/part loan
2) full loan
3) purchase

I now also have the thought of a pony being a lot more fun, less far to fall (!) and allround great personality etc.

What breeds (I know I am generalising here!) would you recomment/not recommend for me? And does anyone know of anything suitable for either of the above 3 options close enough to the NW Kent area (Sidcup etc)?

Thanks for reading!!

Julia

Hi Julia,Any of the larger natives or a cob would carry your hieght and weight and being a return to learn maybe give a home to an older pony thats been there and done it.Take your time choosing so you get your right match for you and your abilities and as for loan, share or buy all have there own pluses and minuses. but the good thing about ponies/cobs because there mostly good doers there generally cheaper to keep :).

he looks like a super pony... :), i would make an appointment to view and spend some time with him doing all the things you would if he were yours see if you get on. take your time i am sure the owner would be happy with you getting to know him esp if you leave a deposit first. When i sold my mare i wanted her to go to a good home.

I like him :)
Go on, contact the seller and have a look. What's the worst that can happen? :D
14.2 Forester should def carry you well enough and he sounds a very nice boy.
