I am currently toying with selling my much loved H M saddle. Does anybody have any idea of what sort of money I may get? It’s about 4 yrs old & in good nick. It is dressage model but without the large knee roles.

While I have a roundish cob I also have no idea how wide it is so I am hoping I can find my Kay Humphries book to tell me how to measure this. Primarily down to following “Bebes” threads about Treeless I think I would like to give this a go (thank you to all those knowledgeable people who have posted). So, I don’t really want 2 saddles both of which not be ideal for jumping. While I am tempted to keep the HM for hacking as it is sooooo comfy that would also in theory be the job of my treeless.

I could also do with getting a good traditional GP for showing and jumping but as my sharer is a bit heavier than me a good weight bearing surface will be needed (which the HM has!). I am not sure what to do for the best but if anybody can give me an idea of how much the HM may bring in that MIGHT make some of my decisions a bit easier. Do you think a saddler would part ex?

Also I have just found out Kay Humphries is visiting a yard nearby in Cardiff in Dec and I know some people who have been very impressed with her GP’s . Anybody here any experience of them?
 
I sold a secondhand HM/Barry Swain saddle for about £750 a couple of years ago. It was two or three years old and in good condition. I was sad to see it go but it no longer fitted my cob.

I've got an 18" Barry Swain/ Kay Humphries GP on the holistic tree with a serge Owen half panel for sale - it's two years old but no longer fits my round cob. The saddle was great initially - the only saddle I've had on her that didn't move. But she had four months off work and has changed shape markedly.

Do you know which tree is in your HM saddle?
 
Ahh - not sure which tree is in my HM.... Poss Heather might be able to confirm from her records.

I am hoping to visit a friend to look at her Kay Humphries saddle but I suspect these are going to be a it more than I want to pay given that my Treeless purchase will hopefully become my main saddle. Somebody did tell me she occassionally has some second hand ones available which if they fitted would be an option. Are you sure you want to rush into selling yours- if your cob comes back into work she might fit the saddle again :)

I don't think I am going to rush into selling my HM as I could live to regret it.... I am going to buy the Treeless, sort out a saddle for (low) jumping and then assess what I do with my current GP (on narrow side now) and my HM. I had just better count my pennies carefully as until I sell one or both of them buying (poss) 2 saddles is going to leave me skint. Being obsessive about the fit of ones saddle can be an expensive business :rolleyes:
