Anyone going to the RDA Nationals

Hi,

I'm going to the RDA nationals at Hartpury to help out the RDA centre I volunteer at. Although I suspect I'll be more trouble than help with my knack for overexciting kids.

Anyway, I was wondering if anyone else was going & fancied a natter (or support goup) at any point.

Hi i'm new to here:)

I'm going to the Nationals too, I'm the owner/groom/helper of one of the horses that are competing from our group. My fourth year going this year and I love it.

Which group are you with?

I've competed for the last two years at Hartbury, and it's great fun, I'm too well now to compete, which is great of course, but I shall miss the camaraderie.

I'm going with Penniwells. To be honest I'm hoping I'm not expected to do too much - hold a horse or a saddle or hand someone a bridle sort of thing, oh and stand by the side and clap our riders of course. ALthough from some of the stories from the regionals I might be laughing at their antics instead:cool:

You'll just have to find a local RDA and volunteer then you can come down and help fizz up kids so the parents want to kill you too :p

Its my first nationals, I cant believe I qualified, I wasnte evn expecting to get placed at rgeionals, let alone win and qualify for nationals!!!
You cant miss me on the pony, she is bright orange but a really sweetie bless her - sadly my horse is lame and out of action!

I'll definately keep an eye out for you :) I'll me the groom floating around with the piebald cob, will come say hello and clap too.

Well done for qualifying, I get nervous just watching and grooming, so can't imagine how you feel. If your coming the Saturday to say over night at all, the Disco is always a laugh.

Oh thank you. Was considering coming up night before because of medication routine and so on making early starts difficult, but have asked for late time on sunday, so may come up just for the day as not too far for us really (mendip hills, nr cheddar, rda based in bristol). would be good to meet up :)

Im going!

Hi
Im going to be there all weekend, am stewarding which Im really looking forward too! I cant drive though, so its going to cost me a small fortune in taxis from gloucester station! I havn't made it since 2003 though, when I had a great time, so Im really looking forward to it! I met the Penniwells Team at the Winter Championships at Vale View, Mari and Micheal are great kids!
Anyone want to catch up so Im not a loner all weekend let me know!!!!:D:D

Im competing on Saturday in the grade 2 test 22 and grade 2 kur! Have been competing there for the last 6 years. Im on a little bay mare and youll be able to recognise our teams stables with all the Welsh flags everywhere!!! Feel free to PM me if you want to meet. x

Oh god, I'm such a bad person. Start a thread and then disappear!

Apparently, we have loads of helpers so I'm hoping I can slip away and cheer on a lot of our riders (and you guys as well!). Although, I have been told that there's nothing quite like skipping out when drunk! Apparently it's something I have to experience although I'm yet to be convinced.

Right, am going pmtastic!

change of plan

Im no longer riding a bright ornage pony, now on a very white grey but please dont watch my test as it wont be very good at all. The ride I had chose today to become unwell so cant compete so Im now on a different pony who I hardly know at all (ridden about 45mins, maybe an hour) and not feeling very optimistic!!! still it will be fun and a good learning experience (mainly how not to do a dressage test I daresay!)

nationals report

I am absolutely stunned!!!!!!!!!
I was joint first in my dressage championships, so it went to collective marks where I was then 2nd overall instead, still utterly amazing for first nationals, only my 2nd rda competition, and having only ridden the pony for 30mins before we went to nationals!! I also won my art and craft section, and the bets overall picture, and got distinction in horse care & knowledge!! I think you can safely say it was a truely incredible day out :D :D
Im absolutely over the moon and my family thought the whole day was wondeful and so inspring that they have made rda the charity of the year for the young farmers fundraising efforts for this and next year, and sister wants to volunteer now too :D

heyy i didnt manage to go but the rding stables that i help at have an RDA group come and use the ponies. i did help for a while whilst i was doing my DoE but sadly i have had to much on at the moment so havent helped for a while :(:( any way i hear that our pony (widget who i have loved since it camw onto the yard) and rider won overalll in the juniors and seniors i believe :D:D:D but well done to the rest off you and by the sounds off things it was good fun. hope you all enjoyed it as much as the harpenden group much love xoxo;)

Congratulations therapyhorse! That's a fabulous achievement! Did you collect your arts and crafts prize in person as I was there for that prize-giving on sunday afternoon?

We had a rider in the dressage on saturday, he took 7th and very proud of him as he's come on so much over the past year to ride a walk-trot test off lead at the Nationals!

Sunday we had two girls in the led Countryside Challenge/Combined training, and they won 2nd and 5th in the dressage aspect then 4th and 5th overall for the combined training.

Am very of our riders for their efforts and exceptionally proud of our ponies, who were superstars all weekend.

I was very impressed with the organisation of the whole weekend, it ran so smoothly and the two volunteers who spent their whole weekend sweeping and tidying the stable blocks should be knighted for their services, it made life so pleasant for all the groups and their ponies :D

re prizes

hello, and thank you!
Yes I did go up for it, Think I had a navy shirt with RDA nationals on it and probably still in my johds from the morning competition and prize giving!
Everyone that came with me agreed it was fantastic, mum cant stand horses but came along for support and was moved to tears by it all, not just my results but the results of so many incredibly brave people facing such difficult challenges and overcoming them to do so well. She came home and thanked me so much for taking her as she loved it and wants to go next year too, even if I dont qualify!! Sister and friend were also so moved by it all that they want to make our rda group the charity of the year for the club they run!! It was an absolytely fabulous day, and whilst at first a stupidly early test seemed a down-side, it soon proved to be a huge bonus as by 9.50am I was free to relax and enjoy the day and we all had a fabulous day. As I said to mum, I honestly think even if I hadnt won a thing I would still have had a fantastic day, the atmosphere was excellent, as was organisation, right down to buses from carparks etc, all in all it was truely brilliant!

Well done Therapy horse. We were entered for the open grade's 1-5 on the sunday, but unfortunately neither myself nor my horse were fit to go. So disappointed. I can honsetly say that there is no other competition where the genuine love and cameraderie pervades everything. Certainly no able bodied competition I've ever attended! Still there's always next year.:D
