I've owned Henry since he was 5, in the three years that I've had him I have never loaded him in a trailer, we've only ever travelled by lorry and he's a bit of a stress head, especially on his own. I've spoken to previous trainers and breeder and none of them have ever had him in a trailer either.
So, on Tuesday night after Physio my friend had her trailer ready to go out, so I thought what the heck, friend is a vet and physio was still there so I figure that was probably the safest time to do anything .
Not only did he walk on first time with a loose rein, he stood in the trailer like a dream with me on a loose rope, he was so unphased by it, my wimpy little TB was a star! He was a bit fast to unload but he waited around whilst we undid the front and partitions and didn't barge past me. Loaded him a 2nd time and he was a bit sticky but he went on and again stood still without barging past despite the front now being open.
I am so proud of my horse! This means that we can soon start going places and hitching lifts! YAY for my brave pony!
I only wish I'd tried him sooner!
