Our first storm of the season

I have in case rugs. I think one is a Rhino and it does look to fit the best.
My fencing laid down both days and she blew out of the paddock. Bless her she always wants back in and she's getting a token feed now that she wants.
It's not cold as such here yet, just been wet and windy.

Some trees down, bridges closed etc etc.

I have in case rugs too - I rarely use them as ours have the byre to come and go in when free ranging and also if its that bad they are in all night if its a gale force and wet.
Ours all have a good well fitting emergency rug. Zi also has several rain sheets because he's a bit thinner skinned than the girls and I sometimes put one on him if it isn't cold and it is just wet.

I made the natural shelter bigger today as there is evidences she's standing there using it.

It finally broke a few branches, that I was able to shove of the way today. Think one bit was already dead.
Spent a hour rejigging the fencing ready for the next storm.

Yes round two here today as well.
But, we have sunshine and no rain as yet. So even though it's well above 60mph here it doesn't feel quite as bad as the other day. Though I'm exhausted with all the extra mucking out as the terrible two must have stayed put over night in one of the empty stables - and left plenty of evidence behind!! Plus it was very wet so a lot of rain driven in during the night.
And we still have power (touch wood) but it seems when it calms that's when we tend to lose it as obviously they are mending the cables that have broken but we get shut down whilst the mending is in progress. I made a flask this morning and cooked extra hash browns - just in case!

Just in. I nearly broke my ankle. Feeling very sorry for myself so might make a hot choccie to get over it.

Ducks and chucks in bed 2 hours early. I shut their door.
Ponies, horses (30+ yo) and sheep all out grazing as if nothing is going on.

Well I'm glad we have relative calm here today. Still breezy but sun out and you can hear and talk on the yard as opposed to shouting to each other and moving quickly in case of flying debris! It seems so soon this year though.

I am so glad we are back to normal here.
Everyone is happy and it seems so peaceful again. And its warmed up, I'm back to a shirt rather than two layers of hoodie and vest!

We've got sunshine I think all this week. It's gone down to single figures overnight. Had to put the fire on this morning.

Well, I shouldn't really say this but I want the Orkney wind back (not gale force just breezy) cos the ruddy midges are making my life hell out there. Argh. You only have to open the front door and they zap my face. Millions and gazillions of them. And its not safe in the byre either - they are flitting about in there like a plague! Hahaha moaning so and so I am! And I don't have any bug spray either. But if I go ordering it, sure as eggs is eggs the midges will go before it gets here!
