My mum died this morning

She had been asleep and unresponsive for the past week in the lovely Princess Alice hospice in Esher and she just took her last breath and slipped away quickly, quietly and peacefully. Having her just lying there for all that time gave us a chance to catch up with ourselves, take stock and to start to get used to the idea. Five weeks ago she was still walking around her flat, completely unaware of what was eating away at her insides.

All her life, she always said that she hoped she'd die in her sleep so she got her final wish.
