Miscanthus...Elephant grass??

HI just started using this 2 nights ago, very impressed with it apart from one problem...
Every morning my horses side is soaking wet with wee where he has been lying, even though it is meant to absorb wee??
Anyone have any ideas what im doing wrong please?

Do you have rubber matting underneath to help the wee run off? Try some straw on top to really absorb the liquid.

No dont have rubber matting, is it still ok to use without matting?
Was wondering if my bed isnt deep enough but it does seem deep

In desperation, I would put a layer of shavings underneath everything else as it would be very absorbent. Depends how much of everything you're putting down.

i use rape straw(chopped stuff and baled) i think that its similar to the elephant grass(please correct me if am wrong)my bed is about 5inchs deep and on mats but i can just wizz the poo off the top and the wet (unless soaked) gets chucked up to dry in the day.
I did have my messy mare on the same stuff and she had only a sprinkle on mats and it did not soak wee u at all.
