Hey guys! I just moved and am getting back in the swing of things. I am now leasing a horse, and have a ?. At first she would spook a lot, and threw me off a few times, but now she doesn't spook as much. (not very much at all) But she still does from time to time, I was wondering if there was anything that I could do to somewhat prevent this. Thanks!

hey there, allison. :)

well, that's kind of a broad question. it would very much depend on the circumstances surrounding the event, as horses are very emotional creatures, and can "spook" at a great many things. you didn't mention anything more specific, so i'll just recommend an article i read recently that brought up very elegantly a number of different types of behaviour, and varied means of correcting, or at least controlling them.

have a look:

it's one of Kathy Johnson's articles, entitled "No Force, No Fear"; i found it to be pretty cool.

if you want to include a few more details about what exactly your horse typically spooks at, though... i'm sure you'll get a ton of responses. :)

Sometimes it's other horses running, and sometimes it is the cats walking through the grass, and other times it's the boogyman that only she can see. (which ,I know, can be very scary) Anyway, I just wanted some tips on staying w/her.
