I want to do that in 2012 it think it is and i have been riding for 10 years and i know i love the thing that is right for me
Ditto Maz!

I've been riding offically ten years solid!
I currently ride for an hour every week at my local RS, still loving it!!

Welcome to the bord and everything you have said about connecting I feel when I ride a horse.... although I'm not disabled I know what you mean as horseriding was the only thing which I could be good at due to a foot problem I was born with.
My story is this:
I was born with club feet which means my feet natuarally turn inward and my tendons dont strech (making my heal come off the ground). I had my 1st op at 6 months old I think.... and then had to keep constantly going back for phisio etc. I was in corrective plaster from a day old. Still as I grew my feet curved inwards and although I could walk, my feet always turned inward. In pe lessons when we ran I always got a ten second head start because of my problem yet I still came last and never won and my confidence was always low. I still hate running/racing to this day. I started riding when I was four(ish) as my doctor said it could streach the back of tendons and push my heal down. My mum suggested it.... saying I may prove to be good in it. So I tried it and the feeling of not having to use my feet in the same way as running blew me away (plus I was bitten by the horse bug lol

) the horse was my legs and my feet worked the same as everyone elses in the saddle and that was it... I was away into riding!
The only op I can remember is the last one I had when I was 7. I was in cast for six months (six months off riding.) and that has "corrected" my foot problems although I'll never have totally "normal" feet and I'll always have scars all over my foot..... but with riding it doesnt matter I use my leg aids in exactly the same way as anyone else does and the riding has streched the back of my tendon (plus my scars are hardly visible)
So I do understand you even though I'm not disabled. I'm actually quite good at running now.... I'm a lot faster than some people and my edurance is better than I ever thought it wold be. But with Horseriding, its built my confidence so much that without it I'd probably still be that kid who comes last in races.... now I usually get placed

I love horseriding I really do its just perfect for me!!
Welcome to the bord!
