Between my typos and my spelling mistakes I've never been the best typist in the world but I could type fairly quickly.

Hubby bought me an Iphone a couple of months back and as a result I rarely go near a computer now. Luxury is catching ou on the forum in the bath  I came on the computer last night and am on it today but OMG I cant type anymore

I also find that I read a lot more and post a lot less which can only be a good thing. Oh and I really miss having smilies

ETA: Just noticed the typo in the tittle. See what I mean!!!!

It's infuriating isn't it - I leave any long replies for when I'm on my computer and then promptly forget and it disappears from my new posts view. Have you seen the joke email about iPhone predictive texting? Very funny, will dig it out if you haven't seen it - love my phone but it's the one most infuriating thing about it! I can always tell when someone has typed from their phone on here, makes me chuckle!

Yes please for the joke.

Don't get me started on predictive texting. I've had some wierd ones myself which I should have saved and sent to that 'damn you autocorect' site. Does make me laugh when it happens to somebody else :giggle:

NR on a smart phone? Do you do this just by using the phone's browser?
I am a new owner too and need to be dragged up to date please.

I need a specialist app which cant run on Apple. OH bought us an Android smart phone to keep up with modern IT.
It has a direct link to Facebook and it did cross my mind that one might get NR on it.

I think most people use an app called tapatalk skib. I think it costs 59p.

ETA to find the app just open your market place app on your phone and do a search :). I have the samsung galaxy S :)

I just login via my phones internet browser and look at it as normal :) The iPhone uses safari. I've never understood why you'd need an app and I'm too tight to spend 59p to check it out!

Safari does my head in. I'm a tapatalk gal too. My hubby does all that for me as I've never so much as bought a phone before.

Just need to work out how to switch auto correct off. I've just been on the damnyouautocorrect site to try to regain my sense of humour. I now ache from all the laughing!

Tapatalk is brilliant, I love the way it gives you a choice of threads you have contributed to. A great 59pence worth.

As for the predictive texting - don't get me started!

I do that all the time too! I dont post nearly as much now, though try and have a quick go on my lunchbreak. I wish they had a 'mark' button, where you could mark the post and save it for when you have a chance to reply later.

I do like IT - Thanks for the info.

I just looked at Tapatalk - it seems to demand a lot of permissions for info - like knowledge of all your phone numbers and who you talk to. And preventing the phone from sleeping.

I am a bit cautious still about apps which want me to surrender control. I am not likely to start spending hours on NR with my phone, so I guess I will come in the normal browser route for now.

Gosh, it didn't ask me any of those things, and it doesn't seem to prevent my phone from going to sleep. There again iPhones just carry on running all their apps whatever you do so maybe it doesn't need to. God knows.

Some apps come ready installed on my phone and presumably on an apple i-phone too. So one sort of regards them as standard and safe.

When one buys an app for the Samsung Android there are certain safeguards recommended by the shop to non expert users like me - one is that the phone will only download apps from the Android store and it is there when purchasing or downloading that you have to agree to the permissions.

I dont fully understand them all - and whether they are used may depend on selections you use when using the app - like if you ask an app to contact a website of a Forum or a Spermarket and update every so many hours, then you have to allow that app permission to make the phone calls or go on line?

It is probably all fine, and dont worry Jane, but as a beginner, whose OH bought a phone that was then new on the market - I chose to follow the advice of the cautious young sales staff and to control things rather than automate them for the moment.

Well I appear to have lost the ability to READ too because I didn't even notice that your title had a word missing!!!
