How much for lessons?

Dice

Back in business!
... this was a sub topic in another thread - just thought I'd try to get a clearer picture of who pays how much and where, as well as (hopefully  ) getting a few more replies. :)

I'm currently taking lessons in the nearest school to where I'm living, known as Tal-y-Foel ( www.tal-y-foel.co.uk )

I do what they call a 'Half and Half' on a weekly basis, where I get half an hour lesson and (weather dependant! :D ) a half hour hack which costs me £15. A half hour lesson is £12.50, so for the little extra I get more time with the horse, which is obviously worth it! :)

So where do you go and what do you pay?

I go to a place called Briarwoods Equestrian Center. Its in Massachusetts, US.

It cost me $20 for a half hour lesson. Except usually the time goes up to about an hour because I take my time grooming the horses after its all done. :)

I go every other week (:( ). My mom says it will just help me appreciate it more. Well, thats definately true. I get SOOOOO excited for my upcoming lesson! :)

Hi,

I live In Ontario, Canada,
and i pay $30 canadian for an hour lesson.
sometimes our lessons go to an hour and a half, but its still the same price.

you pay $20 for a half hour lesson> i dont mean to sound rude but thats a lot. lol

20 american is 30 canadian, so it would cost 60 canadian for an hour.?

lol, okay, im over it! lol, i gtg eat something, im starving!

I bet no-one tops this :(

I'm doing the 'special discount' deal at Wellington now which comes out a a mere £22.50 for 30 minutes private one-to-one.
I'm doing two of those a week, but hope in the new year to switch to one private and one group lesson (max 8 in a class, £22.50 for an hour).
The facilities, especially for Winter indoor riding, are excellent but if anyone can recommend a good alternative near Basingstoke I am all ears..

I win, Horsecrazy girl, I have the lowest cost for lessons ... FREE !! :) :) There sure are a lot of perks to owning your own horses (although I *do* have to pay $300 a month for training and $250 a month for board for each ... it far exceeds what lessons on someone else's horse would cost.) But at the stable I rode at when I first began, it cost $35 for a private lesson, $20 for a double lesson (2 people in the ring), and $15 for a group lesson.

I'm in the Northwest

and I pay £20.50 for a one to one half hour lesson with a BHSI. The BHSAI's price is £18.50, again for a one to one lesson.

There are so many different prices ranges, usually being dependent upon the standard of your instructor. For instance, you can pay £35 for 35 minutes with Paul Hayler (British Dressage Rider/Istructor) with your own horse, some are even more than this!!

I pay £20 for an hours lesson on my own horse with a BHSII, in my neighbours school. Normally I pay her £5 for the use of her school, but I have free use over the whole winter as I clip her 4 horses in return! :D

I live in Devon and pay £13 for an hours group lesson. There are usually 4 in our group, but at the moment the stables hasn't actually finished building the indoor school:rolleyes: So, sometimes it gets pretty cold!!
lol muzzy:D

Where I ride in Derbyshire it's £11.00 for an hour group lesson or half hour private lesson, and £22.00 for an hour's private lesson.

I will make you all feel like you have a bargain by comparison. As I have mentioned here before, I live in New York City and used to ride at a school here that has since closed down. My lessons were $100 per hour. I now travel to New Jersey and pay $92 per hour.

Hi! I pay £13 for an hours group lesson in the winter, and £12 in the summer. The extra quid is to pay for the outdoor floodlights, seeing as the indoor school shant be ready until next week! I can't wait! :D

Holy moly mare-e!!!!

that would be EVEN more than that here in Canada, I would DEFINATELY not be able to afford lessons if they cost that much!

wow, im lucky!

for my lessons, the instructor is from a while away, and comes on weekends to the barn, 10$ of it goes ot the use of the horse, and 25 to the instructor. When I half boarded a pony, i didnt have to pay for the use of the horse, i just paied 25$ for the instructor.

well, i gtg!

you guys are gonna make me cry! i'm with mare-e on this.
I pay $35 for a mere half hour. I'm in chicago, so i guess us inner city folks get the bad end of the deal. I wish there were more affordable options, but the place i go is the closest to me (especially considering i dont' own a car, but have to depend on my boyfriend to drive me everytime.)
I'm gonna go sulk now that i dont' have enough money to ride as much as i want.

Hej Vicky
My first (ever) lesson is today, got an "Intermediate" instructor for one>one private lesson, and its on Monty I think.
Next week another one>one but different instructor and slightly lower level ? £26 instead of £27 for hour.
Went over to look around last saturday, im not horsey but was quite impressed especialy compared to another ive seen local to Ruislip, Suzanne introduced us to all her horses (saw a beautiful palomino) her colour reminded me of my cream Burmese cat.
So ive jumped in with both feet so to speak. So at moment looking forward with very slight trepidation.
