Just wondering as there are numerous rider's on here with disabilities, so i wondered what tips you have to offerer a friend of mine.
Basically had riding accident at 15 which resulted in head injuries, long term health issues.
Epilepsy, lack of co-ordination, concentration, focus, memory. Balance is actually bloody good considering. She does better bareback, it's almost as if the stirrups hinder her ability to know what her legs are up to, does that make any sense to anyone?
Instructor shortened stirrups as her leg flies back jumping but now it doesn't she's not aware it doesn't but it doesn't as told it doesn't.
From what she's said she can "feel" her legs, walks ok etc etc, but when riding they don't appear to do anything when they are meant to, and do more when they're not meant to. Pony has adapted and listens to her body more than legs, so turning is a problem sometimes if only one half of you is turning and your not sure if the other is following suit.
I can't find much out on the internet she didn't say condition had a name? Is anyone on here of similiar disposition, pm if you prefer.
Also are there any gadgets she could use to help with the problem?
