I'm having real difficulty finding a snaffle Hew is happy in (I ride him in a Pelham at the moment which he loves but it's not dressage legal). On p.68 of April's edition of 'Horse', there is a letter about a pony that hates snaffles and the answer mentions a new range of bits called Danger bits that are available through Barnsby stockists. I've done every search I can think of and can't find them anywhere.

Has anyone seen/heard anything about them? Any ideas where I could find out more?

No I don't know where to get such a bit from, these lot always seem really hard to find. Think they make stuff generally for a more specialist market rather than the mass market, if you know what I mean.

The only thing I could suggest is giving them a call and find out where to get one from (sorry if this is something you've already thought about).

just a suggestion have you tried a french link snaffle. my pony loves his pelham and the french link is about the only snaffle he will tolerate

How about trying a Neue Schule or a sprenger KK? I loved ... Snip loved his KK. :D

That's quite interesting, the danger bit or whatever it is, it's like it forms a port or something. Neue Schule are probably cheaper and if you ring them directly you can ask Heather for advice.

Em 1 I emailed them for you yesterday (you can tell I work in a boring office he he thank god for NR)
The email address is on the website
Heres there reply -

Thank you for your email of 28 March 2006.

The Horse and More Bit Range is distributed exclusively in the UK by Barnsby.

The range includes various models of Danger Bit.

Please forward to us your address so as we can post out a copy of the catalogue.

Kind regards

Thanks everyone for all the advice particularly Casey76 for the link and atillathefun for the email:) Now I know there is a catelogue, I'll give them a ring and ask for one. I'll also follow up the KK and Neuschule suggestions.

We've tried him in both a hanging cheek and an eggbutt french link and he hated the eggbutt, was a bit happier in the hanging cheek but is still not happy. Now we've got a straight bar eggbutt so we'll give that a go.

Something else that was suggested was a magic bit but you can only get them up to 5.5" and we need a 6". Anyone know where I can get a big magic bit?

Thanks again:)

I dont think magic bits are dressage legal anyway.

Good point! I did wonder if this would be the case with danger bits too. I'm just getting so fixated on trying to find a snaffle he's happy in, I keep forgetting about the dressage thing!
