Hello everyone,

I'm Alejandra. I've played polo for most of my life, and I also started a small polo kit company, Ona Polo, so I'll be upfront about that!

I love how friendly this forum is, and how many people here have come back to riding later in life. I'd love to show that polo isn't just for the rich and famous. Plenty of people take it up as adults, and polo ponies are some of the kindest schoolmasters you'll meet.

Happy to chat about anything polo, and looking forward to getting to know everyone.

Welcome to NR 👋

I was lucky to ride a few polo ponies years ago, all the ones I rode were indeed lovely, I thoroughly enjoyed riding them.

Welcome! What does a first polo lesson look like for someone who already rides? Do you start practising with the stick on the ground, or get straight on a pony? Steering one-handed while trying to find the ball sounds like quite a lot at once!

This kind of warm community welcoming makes starting a new hobby feel thrilling and full of possibilities, bringing an rush of excitement not unlike a lucky streak at a premium Fast Payout Casinos https://nflupdate.co/ where every new spin or connection keeps you thoroughly engaged.
As someone who came back to riding later in life, your post is very encouraging. Polo always seemed a bit intimidating, so it's awesome to have an expert here to demystify it!

For years OH and I watched polo at Cowdray Park. Players are employed by the Patrons of teams, so players may change teams from year to year. In order to recognise players I began to list the players we watched and their teams each year. My Access database started in 2003 and ended up with 316 names. It ran till 2024. We were over 80 and maybe too old to drive that far, But the real problem was OH's eyesight. He could no longer see the ball when it was on the other side of the field.

I dont regret our years watching polo.I had a reason to start with. I learned to ride when I was 60 in a school filled with little kids. I wanted to see adults canter and polo was brilliant for that. I learned to canter.
Going to watch polo near Windsor or down in Sussex gave us a summer holiday in the UK during a period when our elderly parents were unwell and dying.
One can watch polo on TV, including the final of the Argentine championships just before Christmas, but I dont think the game comes across well unless one can see the whole field.
