Ale hasn't been right since his trim, week and a bit ago. Yesterday hardly sore at all, but today it was more noticeable again.

Sometimes he does have a day or two of soreness but not this long. His ligaments seem a little puffy too but no heat in his feet, still picking them up fine etc so hopefully I'm just overthinking 🤞

I hope you are overthinking, but I also think you're doing the right thing getting him checked. I assue you're thinking low level laminitis? With the change in the grass due to the weather, the time of year, puffy ligaments and not being quite right after a trim I think you're beeing sensible - definitely better safe than sorry. Will you let us know how you get on?

Yes that is my concern, I'm also worried he might have tweaked his ligament as he seems slightly worse on the right fore and he did his check ligament that side many years ago. Will see what they say tomorrow

Oh no, hopefully it’s nothing but I think it’s best to check when things rumble on.

I feel you on the laminitis worry, I’ve had Dan in a sand pen since the drought broke because the grass has truly gone mad, I’d only planned to keep him in for a week but here we are a month on and no end in sight for him yet.

When he had X-rays years ago they told me he had thin soles. The trimmer cut some of his sole off this time as he was shedding it so I'm really hoping it's just that. Will go from there once I know more.

Wahey not laminitis! No signs of that at all

He's tweaked suspensory tendon on his left and likely check ligament or suspensory on his right also.

Not bad enough that he needs box rest just something to monitor. Starting Equioxx long term pain NSAID.

Never thought I would be relieved is ligaments. Will monitor on pain meds and see.

Also doing Cushing's and EMS tests whilst they were just in case and would be good to know for future

It makes you wonder what on earth they get up when we aren't there.
But he could have done it laying down, having a roll etc.

I feel like I'm belittling what the vet found, but I'd be far happier with that diagnosis. With how the groundhas been this summer, followed by enough wet to make it really slippery, I should think there are lots of horses with minor tendon or ligament strains that aren't being picked up on. Fingers crosseed that time and being sensible will fix him.

Just looking it up. Better for long term use and comes in handy chewable tablet so no more cutting Danilon like cocaine (apparently).
Sounds interesting. Storm, Fuzzy and Zi all need long term Danilon. Storm's been on a low dose for years since she was diagnosed with arthritic changes and same with Zi. Fuzzy has been on it since her "accident" and vet told me to give her a sachet before and after being trimmed. Hmm. Interesting.

I was very happy also, she said it's nice to go out to one that isn't laminitis. He actually trotted up pretty well so she was pleased and said it's minor and or caught early!

We use the dog equivalent at work but I hadn't heard about the horse version. I've seen great results with the dog one so it's something I'm very happy to try. £108 for 2 months supply plus a written prescription so not overly expensive if it helps. They can still get ulcers but it's better for kidneys/ liver. He ate the tablet in a small handful of balancer. He did detect once he had swallowed it that something was up as the photo shows. I can still use bute for his trim days also just to stop the tablet for that day. I'll let you all know how he gets on, got a 10 day box from the vets and will get the 2 month supply depending how next 10 days goes. PXL_20260915_133359426.MP.jpg

I like the sound of anything as a chewable tablet. It makes sense that would be "easier" to feed.
Though mine did lick thebucket when she was on bute. She's a strange one!!

I'm not so sure on a chewable. LOL. I bet ours would spot it and spit it! I have no problems at all getting Danilon down them, its tastier than the old fashioned bute. However, I was intrigued about something that is a potential replacement and cost etc.
My current Danilon bill £335 a month.

It's a solid tablet the size of a smarty.
