GOING TO PORTUGAL FOR A WEEK!

I will be away in Portugal for a week now folks- no not lazing on a beach which is probably where I should be! I m meeting up with some friends from California who breed Lusitanos. They have two stunning stallions in training in Portugal with top trainer Luis de Valenca. I get to ride the stallions! I ride on average twice a week, sometimes not at all ( I am changing all that next year!), so it will be nice to ride purely for my own pleasure.

We are goingto the Lisbon Show, which is also the international festival of the Lusitano horse, where one of my friend's stallion is being graded, and we are also going to the Portuguese School of Equestrian Art, which is a bit lie the Spanish Riding School. A good trip I hope- bit of a 'busman's holiday' but I hope to learn a lot more to.

I'm looking forward to your holiday ins & outs...hope yiou had great fun !

Maybe you can help me out with a few pointers/addresses of places/areas to go in Portugal to witness classical riding & Lusitanos. I live near Oporto and the circle I seem to be in are all mad about jumping. I feel as if I'm really missing an opportunity to learn something but they are really unhelpful with information apart from the fact that Lusitanos are found around Santarem. Any info most welcome from anyone, I feel a bit ignorant considering I live in Portugal !!!!
