I had my gardeing in July got my card couple of weeks ago and got my dispensation certificate from BD yesterday. Got my first show on Saterday, 2 novices and it will be the first show since early July. Got my looped reins now just hoping my boy behaves. I have a feeling the show may make him come a bit short and I will be riding around with baggy looped reins but have to just try and see. At least it will stop me trying to shorten them and may be just may be he will work down in to the contact. Got a lesson tomorrow morning so at least I get some practice with my trainer the day before the show. I will let you know how it goes even if we come last or get galloped out the ring. Off to learn my tests but to excited to sleep unusal as normally I just get nervouse but so keen to try the reins in competition I can't wait until Sat

Good luck hope the reins work well for you, i used to teach a few riders who used them and they found them very easy to use but i can see your concern if you feel like you need to shorten them as its not possible.

see how you go you may find that you might need to start with shorter reins than normal and then when he drops they will be the right lenght

keep us updated and fingers crossed for you :)

almost ready

Thank you for the messages Lesson this morning was really good may be a bad sign for tomorrow as he may have done all his good work today. Tail cleaned and detangled, tack and boots done, lorry collected. Didn't bath my horse as he looked clean this morning bad idea came in with burres in his mane and a lovely dusty look instead of black oh well. Now just got to hope I wake up in the morning. Did hear some good news for people in the Westcountry Wellbeck near Exeter will be holding a para qualifier next April so that could save a few people a few miles of traveling. Right off to bed to dream of Novice 37 and 38

The result

Well as if my boy knew he was a para horse now instead of the raging nut he usually starts with he came out very quietly really to quiet. Flopped through first test and slightly better second test. The photos definatly show a more round together horse but not enough energy. Stunning photo of the medium trot but although my pony looks fab I am leaning forward to ruin the image. Well the important bit we got 61.4% in the first test and 62.8% in the second and a 4th and 5th placing. Not world beating but not bad either. Deep down I do know if I had done the same test quality on my TB mare with out paradispensation I would of only got 55%. Having a big black warmblood and some sympathy votes obviously boosted the marks as I don't think we really deserved them this good. Next show only a few days a away on Friday so no rest for the wicked
