Thought some of you might be considering buying these and I wanted to share my experience...

After reading the review of these boots made by another poster on this forum I decide to try to Easyboot Glove fit kit for my mare's back feet rather than just buying the size that appeared to be right. The size that measured up right was too big, there was a gap where the V was as she quite angled TB type feet.

Tried the size down (size 0!) which given the size 0.5 was at the top of her width I didn't think it would fit but it did! And like a glove :) though I had a little panic as I didn't think I'd be able to get it back off!

So I ordered two size 0 and have now had them for 2 weeks. They are fabulous! Easy to put on as you just slide them on and let the horse do the rest (unless my girl isn't playing ball and won't step her weight into it!) once it's on gaiter rolls up easy enough and velcro's over.

To ride in they seem to give her better grip behind than no boots at all, we're now free to go were we like without even having to consider the gravel :) I haven't been out in heavy mud yet (give it time) but I have been out ofr a gallop in them. She's got a mean turn of speed on her and didn't accelarate out of them (which I was convinced she would).

Anyway hope it of interest to someone :) please feel free to ask questions, I'll answer anything I can!

Good to read this, have got hte fit kit on order should be arriving int he next couple of days. So would be interested to hear how you get on, have recently fallen out with my Boas as for the second time we lost one half way round the Mary Towneley loop, leaving my girl to go barefoot round the rest of it, as they are such a pain to fix (the offending boot, still remains laceless in my tackroom lol).
Look forward to your 'mud' update :)

Out of interest...how did you get them off?

Good to hear. A couple of others at my paddock have recently bought them & are also very happy with them. They have incidentally been in deep mud & the boots haven't yet come off.

I would love to try them, but unfortunately they don't make 'em small enough for the pony I want them for - the smallest of the original Easyboots seem like the only ones that will suit him.

I have been for a good gallop on dartmoor with gloves on the front and they stayed put perfectly - despite the very muddy/boggy conditions. Grip was fantastic too.

Silverspring - how tight do you find them to put on exactly? I find mine are pretty tight to get on the front (I have to put one side of the hoof in first then wiggle the boot on - on his hinds I just slip them on) and at the end of his trim the hoof wall actually overhangs the tread slightly. Im thinking about trying a half size up with a power strap as Im not totally happy with the fit - Id appreciate any input

THank you (both users :)) for posting. I am definitely considering the Gloves, having fallen out with my G2s.

Would you be able to answer a couple of questions?

First - I've been told they're more suitable for long rather than wide feet - so I guess will always work well for backs? How about on the front? What shape feet does your horse have and what kind of horse are they? I'm needing to fit a 16.2 TB type, who has feet consistent with being a 15.2 TB ;) but while he has quite little feet for his size, his fronts are quite round...

Second - my horse lives out, and I ride from the field. We don't really have the facility to clean feet before riding. Would a bit of dirt on the hooves affect the seal and fit, do you think? I'm not talking very dirty, but they're never spotlessly clean, if you see what I mean :)

Apart from the questions, you've sold me on the Gloves if they fit my hoss ;)

Received the fit kit, today and am gutted....they wont fit :-(

She seems to hover between a 2.5 and a 3...

The 3 is wide enough but too long....
The 2.5 is the right length but not wide enough ...

Was desperately trying to squeeze her tootsies in but alas to no avail :-(

Hoping beyond hope they will do a mould for horses with hooves of the apparently uber wide description as they look to be super boots and have read nohing but glowing reviews of them

affected - I would give the 2.5 a real bash, as I said my girl is at the top of the size 0.5 width and I can get her feet in the size 0! They are tight and you kind of have to twist and wiggle them on. I aim her toe at bottom back where the heal will sit then push and twist to get them on. They will strech with time :) I've read a review of someone boots stretching a tad too much so the boot was no longer as secure as it could be! I tried my fit kit on about 3 different night, they take a bit of getting used to so please do try again!

As for getting them off I roll the gaiter back then push the heal with both thumbs down and towards the toe, the take a bit of pressure but usually come off eay enough :)

Cappalduh - my girl is an Arab and she has rather race horse type feet. The boots are meant for longer than wide feet but I would also say they are designed for a strong 45 degree angle hoof and a normal heal. If the horse has an under run heal (as many TBs do) I don't think they would work so well as the gaiter is tight and wouldn't stretch over the heal. As for the angle my girl doesn't stretch the V gap very well as she has angled feet. They don't fot her feet on that basis only, they fit on the sole but not round the wall :(

Hope that was some help :)

Thanks for the advice silverspring, will have a go tomorrow and see how we get on, think you can keep them for up to 14 days so hopefully will have gotten the hang of it by then ha ha
