Does my boy look underweight?

Hi :D the pics aren't the best angles but he doesn't look thin at all, I'm a believer in allowing the natural process of winter weight loss happen so they can affod to gain a little as spring and the new grass arrives, so I'm not upset to be just seeing ribs this time of year, in fact with my fatties its cause for a celebration :p really the best way to assess weight is by calculating a body condition score, which is more about hands on than how the look (especially important if they have a thick coat) :) http://www.bhs.org.uk/~/media/bhs/files/pdf-documents/condition-scoring-leaflet.ashx?la=en

The final picture would show visible ribs if he was thin. My very good-doer pony is showing a rib at that angle at present even through what is left of his winter coat. So no, your boy is a lean mean fighting machine but he is definitely not underweight. My vet would tell you he could still lose a pound or two, but she likes to see ribs!

ETA he is gorgeous by the way!

Thank you guys It's the first time I've moved yards with him, so wanted a few different opinions as I'm a worrier . Sorry the pics aren't the best, I realised I had none recently that were easy to judge his shape.

Nope, doesn't look underweight to me either, as Jane said my vet would say he's probably still got some to lose but she also likes them thinner.

I agree no! especially as summer is about to roll in. Hes lovely though!

I would agree with everyone else. He is certainly not underweight to my eye, and my vet would also say he could lose a little, especially at this time of year.
