I think it's wise to protect the most vulnerable, especially when those carers are going from 1 vulnerable person to the next all day long, hopefully she will come around to the idea.

doubt it, last three times I have rung her she is doing her dying swan routine so I give up. She has a letter from the hospital for her to go in for tests does she get her carer person to read it out to us so we know when we have to come up and take her 4 hour round trip. Of course not.

What's with hibiscrub ???? Can't get any only in HUGE containers. I don't want to pay £40 for one. I don't want a big bottle of it thank you very much. Hyperdrug had sold out of the normal pack sizes yesterday and this morning I tried veovet and they had none either. Are horsey people panic buying it? Or do you think folk are buying it to wash their hands in?! I use quite a lot of it for Storm as she has a cavity which needs keeping scrupulously clean and scrubbed every night before bedtime.

Chlorhexidine (hibi) is a human surgical scrub, so I expect the manufacturers are prioritizing hospitals etc. at the moment and not filling the orders of lowly tack shops who have now sold all their small bottles and just have the less popular big ones left.

Yes I know it's for hospital use, what I can't work out is the massive bottles are still for sale? The smaller sizes have all gone. It's odd. I opted for Tribiscrub (the unbranded but still with chlorahexadine in it). It should do the trick. Chlorahexadine is my bff atm. I'm suffering with a bacterial gum infection and have to use it three times a day in a mouthwash
Maybe like you say the bigger ones aren't selling - due to price and the smaller ones have just gone....................hmm.................

My friend was telling me all the soap had gone from her local Asda. That's bonkers - lol a bar of soap lasts ages. What are people doing with it? Eating it?

I think only big yards/RS's etc. really buy the big ones, owners with less than a few horses will only really want the small bottles and that's most of the horse owning population so wouldn't surprise me if those sell out faster

I suppose I could have re filled my smaller bottle and bought the big one but it seems such a lot to shell out in one go. I've already spent a fortune on them this week - everyone needed worming, more biotin, devil relief and Allen and Paige FF. Oh dear. Never mind, I don't do anything else...................

There hasn’t been any hand soaps in our local shop for the last week, I’ll only start to worry if we get gas and electric and water cut off.
You can live without soap, loo roll and even meagre rations of food for weeks but you can’t live without water , shelter and warmth.

The bit people don’t seem to understand is that by panic buying and hoarding stuff they are creating the scarcity that they are worrying about, this world has gone bonkers, seriously, utterly, outrageously bonkers.

I tried to put anti-bacterial spray on my online shop ... nothing, all brands/flavours/sizes sold out. I can't even get a delivery any time soon, I assumed it was due to the floods and a lot of the roads being closed, but I'm now wondering if there's just no stock in the warehouse!

Even Tesco up here have sold out of anti bac gel and wipes. Bonkers! They are talking about limiting food shopping - nobody thought to stop folk stock piling the hand gel!

This is what I was saying last night to mr t. I said we are lucky in the Western world to have running water and most of us - hot water when needed. And electric etc. Running out of a bit of soap won't hurt or make you miserable but being without the other basics will. Honestly, it's all getting silly isn't it?

The stupid thing is that all the antibacterial stuff won't do any more good against a virus than soap and water will, and a bar of soap lasts a reasonable amount of time. I'm guessing washing up liquid would do as good or better a job since the whole point of soap is to cut through the fatty layer that protects the virus, and washing up liquid is better at that.

It's gone crazy. Ah well, I may not have stocked up on bottled water, hand wash and loo roll but I do have plenty of wine

My mum popped into morrisons to top up on bits. Apparently they are completely out of loo roll and pasta. Soaps, antibac etc went off the shelves last week.

A few years ago when my nan passed away we had to clear the house out. The attic was full of loo roll. So much so that we didnt buy any for over a year.

Growing up we had a cupboard under the stairs that was always kept full of essentials. I just thought it was sensible really as meant that when my mum got sick for example we had everything we really needed right there. It wasn't huge just a few shelves of toiletries, tinned goods etc for a family of 4. I'll probably do the same if I ever have a family

We have a cupboard under the stairs with extras in, always have done but I’m talking about people who fill their trolleys with stuff, I wonder if the realise that by stock piling hand sanitisers, tissues etc they are in effect putting themselves at greater risk, think about it, if half of us can’t buy tissues to catch our germs or hand sanitiser/soap to wash our hands as advised we are far more likely to pass it on through touching things that they too will touch or coughing on them.

Intrestingly, we can't use soap in our household, for OH's medical reasons, so we are all about the soap and anti-bac in a bottle

Thankfully, we are stocked up routinely, so no big panic for us yet!

I don’t have newspapers but dock leaves I could do, imagine they’d be a bit kind of slimy though, not very absorbent, actually moss would probably work quite well too.

I completely agree, was just raising a little point that perhaps many families don't do this now?
