Sharing these photos for my own benefit as much as anyone else's, to remind myself what the sun looks like and how lovely my home county is! I had some time off in February and went to the UK to do some horsey visiting, but I also went home to Cornwall for 4 days and got some seriously lovely spring weather. As well as seeing my parents, I spent some time with my grandmothers, both of whom were really happy to see me for a bit. One had had eye surgery, which had gone well but she'd had a reaction to the stuff they'd put on her face and she was swollen, itchy and not feeling too great – the other had gone into a care home just that weekend and was having a hard time settling in. My parents had also been very stressed by the whole thing (long story, but not an easy time for any of them) so they were also happy to have a visit from their ever-absent younger daughter.
My dog Pepper is always pleased to see me so that was no surprise! My parents both booked Valentine's Day off work so that we could all go to the beach together and then out for lunch. I'm not close with my parents and when I'm abroad we go long periods of time without communicating, so it was nice to do something together like that. Half of the country was under snow at that point but Cornwall was dry and sunny (albeit still very cold!) and as beautiful as always.
This is Perranporth beach, one of our favourite dog-walking beaches and incidentally also fantastic for a good gallop when it's not covered in tourists! Pepper loves the beach and, as you can see, is particularly fond of stones and digging...
