Carts here, ponys pulled it

How annoying. I was just finishing typing up a long reply and it suddenly disappeared :banghead:

My Fibro brain is not allowing me to remember much - but I was saying that I have the same harness and it really was too big for my Sec A. I invested in a Shetland size Tedex harness, more expensive, but wonderful quality and fitted him so much better (he was 11.2hh).

Shame about the cart - it looks lovely. Haven't seen a Robinsons cart, but there have been mixed reviews. For your budget you do see plenty of second-hand carts on Dragon Driving and Ebay - but obviously then there may be long distances to travel and you need to make sure they are safe and solid.

It is lovely seeing your progress. Gives me hope that one day I will get my Exxie mare going in harness (we are just starting to pull scary stuff around the yard and she longreins well).

Ali xx

I have been looking on DD and this cart was off ebay but OH will have to pick it up in the van and he refuses to go more than about 70 miles in each direction. I have looked at the Tedex harness, i dont understand where the makers of the harness she has on get there measurements from? it had to be adjusted EVERYWHERE, i have seen some nice ones on ebay (one had a sliding backband, ive been told these are better?)

Always go for a sliding back band if you can, it's so much kinder on the horse's back.

I started out with a Robinson's cart - Grace's previous owner had bought it for her. It rather depends what you want to do. It's fine for pottering around on tarmac, school surfaces or lawn type grass. I think that's what Robinsons say it is suitable for. However, it is very lightweight, and I found it bounced rather alarmingly when off-road. In fact I was thrown out when Grace had to do an unscheduled emergency handbrake turn to avoid a collision - and this was in an outdoor school.

I sold mine and bought a second hand Bellcrown - and then thoroughly enjoyed cantering in the stubble field, which I would not dared to do with the Robinsons.

I purchased a Vehicle from the sycamores and it is brilliant was a little over your budget but worth every penny! There are pics in my album.

The Bellcrown Mini carts for Shetladns are really quite nice. Though folk do complain about the paint finish.

We got a very good little carty from Highgate Carriages.
