I am now back in Cornwall after my month of teaching English in Poland, but before I came home I made a flying visit to France to catch up with my old boss - who had her baby just before Christmas - and to see my ponies. Unfortunately I didn't get any Mouse cuddles as it was school half-term and he was away at a mounted games competition that week but I did have plenty of time for Annie. She seemed happy to see me and get a bit of attention, we had a play around in the round pen and went off down the road for a nice grazing walk but what I was really desperate to do was get back behind those wonderful big ears of hers. She hadn't been ridden since December 2017 (when I was there last) so of course it made perfect sense to pluck her out the field and take her for a hack but she was absolutely good as gold, as I'd suspected she would be, and you never would have known it was that long since she'd been sat on! We ended up going for a hack every day, it was lovely sunny spring-like weather so it would have been a waste not to, and she was clearly happy to be out and about again. We mostly ambled along at a gentle pace and took plenty of snack breaks, but despite not being fit she had quite a spring in her step and was keen for a few little canters here and there. It was so great to have this familiar view again!
