... Just 'cause it's been a while! I have also realised I haven't updated my diary since August :frown: - will get onto that another day, meanwhile I have some autumn pics to share from the last couple of weeks, of baby hosses and fuzzy ponies and the like. Hope you like :)

Mouse first! For the last 7 weeks he and the other ponies have been away at a rented field so that their winter field at home could be rested for a bit. We wormed them on Thursday before they came back home at the weekend - all the ponies love wormers and they were fascinated by the bag they came in :giggle: Now that the flies have finally gone Mouse has had his fly rug off at last and he's been able to get some good rolling in, hence the pinkness!

Check out the silly forelock :giggle: For those who don't know Mouse had a fungal skin problem this summer and had some very sore bald patches on his head and along his crest, rubbing out half his mane and most of his forelock. Finally it's all starting to grow back but it's not at its most attractive stage just yet!

Youngsters next. 2 weeks ago my boss bought two new yearlings, and they joined the herd with two other colts the same age - Bonsai (bred from boss's mare Heroine last year) and his buddy Beetlejuice who belongs to a family friend a grass livery. The group is kept in line by another one of my boss's broodmares Riayade, who is due to foal in April, and grass livery Prelude, whose foal in July was born ill and sadly died that afternoon.

Typically they were all over the furthest end of the field and made me walk all the way up the hill to get them. They spotted me and started ambling over.

Left to right - Riayade, Bonsai, Prelude

Beetlejuice was on his own and went shooting down to the others when my arrival caught his attention.

Bonsai, I can't believe he's so big now, I remember the day he was born and he was teeeeeny! He's a really sweet natured chap. Slowly getting his mum's blonde hair.

The new boys. Chestnut's name is Belive something (we think they meant "Believe" but spelt it wrong!) but we've nicknamed him Patch for fairly obvious reasons. The bay has an obscure name which escapes me and we couldn't work out how to say it anyway, so he's Billy for now!

Beetlejuice is still not keen on them but Bonsai has made friends (more or less!)

Stills off a video. Bonsai liked the look of my hair!

Oh, and Patch's cute white chin.

Then I paid a visit to the other grass liveries as one of the owners, who lives in the UK, is in hospital with a tricky pregnancy and wanted a pic of her horse Mizz to cheer her up. Hope these did! -

Hard job getting nice pics of Mizz, she is hardly a supermodel is she.... Ironically for such an unlucky-looking horse, her proper name is Charisma - are you surprised we tend to refer to her as Miserable Mizz instead?

Qastantina, my boss's other broodmare. Not massively photogenic either...

Big boy Ivan, all 18hh of him. His 19-year-old owner is 5'2''!

And the other member of the group, Tanael. Dull pic but I can't leave one of them out can I!

Then I went on to the next field and started with a few shots of my boss's mum's sheep. I am rarely inspired to take photos of sheep tbh as I find them much more attractive on my dinnerplate than in a field (sorry sheepie lovers!) but this time I thought the background was quite nice so I gave it a go anyway.

Last lot to come... foalies!

Just to recap, we've got 2 foals from this year - Heroine's filly Tigger (Selle Francais, half-sister to Bonsai) and Welsh Cob colt Cayard, whose mum Set belongs to a family friend from England. There would have been a third if poor Prelude's little filly had made it.

Little bit of Bob. He was the first to spot me and the only one who decided to come over to see me. Shaved patch on his left knee will be explained when I finally get around to bringing my diary up to date!

Got some awesome sky shots at sunset yesterday :cloud9: Took a couple from the house first, then went up and sat out in the mares & foals field and watched the cloud formations drifting around, it was so peaceful I would have fallen asleep if it hadn't been so bloody cold :giggle:

Got a few shots of the foalies and Set as well, though they didn't play ball for long... and Heroine didn't play at all as she had found something tasty in the bushes!
