Are expensive jods worth the money

I would buy cheaper jodhpurs/breeches, but I struggle to find them in plain or muted colours - most are pink, purple or brightly coloured two tone. I prefer mine to be fitted & not bag too (I have slim legs, so often find they bag at thighs or knees).

I really liked Derby House breeches, although recently I've gone for Dublin, Equetech, Kingsland or HKM. To be fair, you can pick up bargains online - I got my Kingsland breeches for under £50.

I prefer breeches to jodhpurs & usually spend about £60-70 on a pair. I've got about 4/5 pairs at the moment - I'll probably get another couple, ready for when riding resumes 'full time' in the Spring.

I just buy cheap jods, most of mine are from Decathlon. They get a lot of wear as I'm in them from dawn to dusk and ride 3/4 times a day, but they last surprisingly well. And in fact I was given a lovely fancy pair of Sherwood Forest ones last Christmas and they wore a hole in the crotch after just 3 months.

They are good, you cannot kill those off!lol I have had several pairs and they are still going strong.

Yeah another vote for requisite robust jods, i have three pairs on the go, and I wear them daily 7 days a week. Generally buy a new pair at some point in the year when robinsons have a 25% off day so makes them very cheap and they last ages.

I live in leggings and joggy bottoms,on occasion nice soft jeans but I ride in leggings or joggers for comfort. Couldn't tell you the last time I wore or bought jodhpurs [emoji15]

Jodhpurs are more robust than leggings though - I can't imagine a pair of leggings that would stand up to the same amount of use as my jodhpurs!

My primark £4 Lycra ones last my a good few months living in them, riding, mucking out, dog walking etc, I do love them as they offer some support too :-)

Expensive breeches all the way for me. I have about 15 pairs most are Eurostar which are my favourites but the rest are Oliver Townsend which fit me really well. I mostly get them when they are on sale as I only buy plain colours so never go out of fashion and thy get worn daily for about 4 hours and all day sat and sun and on days off plus dog walking. They all have washed well and are looking good.

I don't like the cotton ones I like that new material which is tough but thinner than cotton so does not wear between the legs of go baggy.

I am lucky that as I am small my size generally get put on the sale rail.

Edited to add I can't ride in gym legging or fashion legging they are to thin and would wear out a lot quicker than my breeches

I just wear leggings these days. £8 from tesco or asda or the like. I find jodhpurs too thick now and I like how comfy they feel. I'm just careful about see throughness. I made my sister do the pants test to check how far I could bend over before you see my knickers.
Lol yeah I don't wear them for riding, but for knocking around every day. Always wear 2 pairs, or tights underneath.
As for jods, mixed prices. Got cheaper ones off ebay Silversaddle 13.99 i think.

Year before last I brought 3 pairs of brand named ones in various sales, 2 of those the stitching has gone on various seams and the other just isn't a great fit, last year I brought some aldi ones as they were on sale for a fiver and they are brilliant, stretchy, comfy and holding up to lots of riding really well, so I brought another 2 pairs last time they had them in :D

Just a thought about OH and me having so few pairs of breeches. Jessie and some of you are working in your riding clothes. Apart from tacking up and untacking, I rarely do. I wear tough USA Wrangler jeans for yard work, and lately even wore my every day skinny Gap jeans. The tight jeans look like riding clothes and are trendy, but Maisie is grey and I am not handy with the hose and soak myself too. So I reckon my old fashioned work jeans are best. And you can wear them over thermal long johns in winter.

Don't have time to change Skib so just wear jods for everything yard or ridden, hence not wanting to ruin a nice pair.

I far prefer expensive! I have some Pikeur and some RTS Bentex - all many years old, but don't look it!
