Any loading tips for a horse used to wagon travel?

We have just acquired a wonderful Connemara lad who has hunted, done show jumping, cross country, ODE- but always travelled in a wagon.

We have a trailer (Ifor Williams 505). At first, neither of our two cobs would load into the trailer, but by using a combination of pressure halter and clicker training we now have them virtually loading themselves.

The problem with the new pony is that when we eventually did manage to get him in the trailer he had a massive panic attack and ended up reversing out very shaply. He seems to want to swing sideways (as he would when loading into a wagon) and leans badly on the trailer wall or partition.

Has anyone got any tips for trying to load a horse into a trailer that's used to travelling in a wagon? Any advice gratefully received!
