And we’re there...

I was going to ride this evening, when I called them up Monkey was sporting a thorn necklace

I unhooked one side but before I could get to the other he walked off, then it caught on the fence and went half under his belly 😳 he tanked off making it worse, spun frantically and charged back past me, spun again and finally decided I was the safest option and let me unpluck it!

I concluded riding after that was probably not worth my while!
Oh Monkey! Probably a wise decision to not bother riding.

Rode in the paddock on Wednesday for saddle fitting, he really does not see the point and devolves into bucking, humping and being really flipping difficult after a couple of laps 🥴 he’s in for a shock as we have our first lesson in a couple of weeks!

Last night I took the new saddle for its first real test, and it did well

I felt like I had much more horse in front of me, and he lifted well into it. I also went and played in the pit, which going up and down there will normally make a saddle move if it’s going to, and it didn’t 👌 slightly strange though, Monkey was insanely itchy under the girth straps, in the gap between girth and saddle, they’re webbing backed, but weren’t touching him, maybe that’s why 🤷🏻‍♀️

When I got back I was investigating why it dug in the back of my thigh, and I can see why I was warned off this brand, they’re stapled together in places you’d normally have stitching. The panels and seat are beautiful leather and well made but the flaps are stiff as boards and just stapled on! but Monkey clearly preferred it so I’ll roll with it for now and save up again to have something made to measure once he’s done changing shape!
