For the spooky amongst you...lol. Shock's thread about the whole would you watch your life thing has gotten me to thinking. I started thinking about a weird re-curring dream / sensation I've been getting over the last few years.

I keep having a dream over and over again - just a snippet really, of myself and some other folk all sat on this settee thingy and we're all family (I just sense that part) but we all look different - yet I know these people and I'm quite a bit younger (and thinner lol)! Yet the feeling I get and the mental picture are so real - but I cannot for the life of me see their faces properly nor the venue. Mmm. Most odd because it flashes up to me often - I get this odd sense of "togetherness" with these people. (Insert odd tingly icon).
Mmm. Bonkers.

I have one or two theories about this odd thing - one is that it has happened to me and I don't remember? (Highly unlikely)
The other is that it is yet to happen
The other is that it is happening or happened in another life?

Ok, you can send in the yellow van with SQUARE wheels now......hehehehehehhee. Anybody else get odd dreams that nag at the back of their minds??????
I may have mentioned this before, so sorry if I'm repeating - I'm having a CBA kinda afternoon here at workplace Trewsers.......

I do love your random threads, so wonderfully weird!! :giggle:

I seem to be dreaming a lot these days about old school friends and my old horse, obviously wanting to relive my youth a little lol

Oh Jovi, I dreamt I was back at school not long ago, but couldn't find my way to the next class - it was awful, I felt so frustrated!!!!!! What are we like..........

I dream alot and I did used to get re-occuring dreams but they would go a little further each time!? Like something was added on the end! I know what you mean about the faces though! Its as if you know them, but you cant see them!! I have very werid dreams, I have dreamt more than a handful of times of dying......3 times of those I have been shot and 3 I have died in a plane crash (went through a HUGE stage of worrying about dying in a plane, I hate flying) and have died various other ways too.....

OOoh err Holly, I'd be really weirded out if I'd dreamt about being shot!
The worst I get on that score is giant flying cockroaches attacking me.....OH is always having to shake me awake at this point.....lol

Last night, I had to wake him as he was shouting at the top of his voice "get away you horrid old bag" (at first I thought he was saying "old bike") but then it became clear...........

LOL apparantly dying in your dreams means something new is happening, or there is a change in your life........ :nerd:

Doesnt weird me out but it is odd...............!! I felt pain as well, weirdly, but it was just an ache....but in my dream, not actually when I woke, if that makes sense!!

Dreaming about having something in your hands and u wake and its gone is most disappointing too :banghead::banghead:

^^^ this is my recurring dream!

I'm in my secondary school i have a time table and i cant for the life of me find the classroom and I'm getting later and later....finally going up stairs that are one way only, fighting past lots of people and get to the top, I can see the classroom infront of me before a teacher tells me to go the other way and i have to start all over again....

cant help think it means I'm a bit lost in life! :redcarded:

Oooer you're freaky trewsers! Perhaps that family is your ancestors?

About a year after my grandad died. He visited me in a dream I was only 11 years old but the dream was so real. It had been a normal day at school and I was leaving through the carpark and I saw my grandad waiting for me (the day he died he was supposed to pick me up from my jnr school I was now in my comprehensive). I ran over too him hugging him and was crying, I could feel his warmth and the prickle of his wool jumper. I woke up balling my eyes out and it still makes me cry now 11 years later.

But I really do believe that it was him a year later saying good bye!

Aw, yes, most likely he was just saying goodbye, I strongly believe in things like that.

i like this thread...I have many freaky dreams and glad to read I'm not alone :giggle:

Two days after my gran died I had a dream that we were sat on my sofa with a cuppa and a :smoke: she was telling me she wanted her signet ring on....it was very real and freaked me out a little, the next day told Mum and dad who indeed had the signet ring that she had worn every day from her parents as a 16th b'day pressie...we gave it to the undertakers as I just knew she wanted it with her.

I love the alternate universe idea as highlighted in the film 'sliding doors' - that in a parellel world you live a completely different life, and sometimes you see snapshots of that life whilst existing in this - perhaps that's what you dreams are allowing you to see....

It all gets a tad existential for this time of the morning!

My re-occurring dream, that I can still remember now after 25 years, was about a Volcano appearing in a garden at the top of the road.. It grew quickly and I was sat in my bedroom, watching it, panicking and looking to escape.. Next thing, we're all sat in a helicopter, and the entire country is under several feet of lava, and we disappear over a cliff, in our effort to escape, as the lava flows over the edge...:cold:
I had that dream quite a few times as a child.

I have had a couple of very distinct dreams which are unusual because if I dream at night I don't remember them in the morning.

One of them had me in a white van driving home, at the time I was single and living with my parents, but I was nowhere near my parents house. On the main road I could tell that my wife was in because the lights were on.

Jump ahead 5+ years and I was married and driving along the road I dreamed about in a light grey escort van and sure enough from the main road you could make out the house we had bought. I got a hair standing up on the back of my neck moment but then later I thought that if it was a profitic dream then I was married to the right person and living in the right place.

I have thought about it over the years and personally I am not convinced and think that reality matched up closely enough to a dream and I somehow merged the two. That's not what I thought at that precise moment though :)

Interesting.........
I think sometimes we can be guilty of as Tomas says, matching up reality to a dream or sensation, but I do find it odd, that I really can't seem to get this one out of my head at all! It puzzles and intrigues me!! Definitely a bit sliding doors as Portia mentions.......

Dark Storm - that's a heck of a dream about the volcano! Eeeek! (As a child I used to have similar dreams only they involved nuclear bombs!!!)

liz scarlet - kind of comforting somehow? That your gran could communicate like that. Nice to know you did the right thing with the ring.

I like it when I have dreams of my grandparents who have died as they are always fit & well. My granddad had (many a) stroke in the few years before he died, confining him to a wheelchair, but in my dreams he can always walk - like he used to when I was little. Same with my Nan, she's always well like when I was a young child. It's so reassuring.

I have dreams with recurring themes too. My teeth; either they fall out, one or all of them, they crack or crumble apart or I have a loose one that eventually comes out. They're so vivid & I hate them! I also regularly dream I pregnant & I know find I wake up disappointed (I used to wake up in a panic about telling my Mum!) and I also dream a lot about spiders.

I don't know if googling their interpretation really means anything or whether they're things that are in my head on a regular basis. I love the way dreams are a complete mish mash of old memories, the subconscious and recent experiences. The things they throw out are quite spectacular!

The volcano and bombs dreams sound terrifying!! my dad tried persuade me that it was my subconcious knowing she always wore it but I'm not so sure...I didnt know they had taken it off

I had one last night...but brought on by noises outside the flat. I woke at 4am after a horrible nightmare about being trapped in a hotel room, could hear a man shouting in reception about killing everyone, I opened the window and hid between the bed and bedside cabinet, i could hear him checking all the rooms and was waiting for him to find me.

Woke up to lots of really angry shouting outside....it was very scary in real life. When I went out to the car this morning it looks like something serious happened at the bottom of the road, lots of police and cars with a taped off area :-( Can not wait to move !!!!

Blimey liz Scarlet - wonder what's happened then? Sounds very scary!!

Roxy, that's nice that you dream of your grandparents being well, I too have had similar dreams about loved ones that are gone. It's so comforting. I dream about my FIL too, he's been dead 18 years now, but it's so real! Weirdly enough OH rarely dreams of him, I think I do all his dreaming for him!

My Mum said she has never dreamt about her own mother after she died (over 10 years ago) but she has her dad. Something like that anyway. Isn't it strange what the brain does?

I often dream about the people talking on the radio (how much of a loon does that make me sound?!) when my alarm comes on in the morning; I'm half asleep but I can hear what they're saying and they infiltrate my dreams! I've often found I'm sat in the pub with the Chris Moyles team, although I can never get a word in edgeways as they're always jabbering on!

This made me :giggle:

Trewsers I have OH on look out (he is off uni today) so far texts indicate probably a murder....or at least attempted from number of police and people in white boiler suits about :frown: the only good thing about the place I live are any incidents like this are all kept between either family members or friends. :running: as soon as we can to some where nicer!
