Weird thing people buy / collect

I've never heard of collecting soaps but I kind of want to do it now! I have a mini collection of unbranded soaps that I pick up on craft stalls at shows because they smell lovely but then it seems a shame to use them so they're just sadly stashed away in the storage cupboard, out of sight, out of mind. Maybe I should collect them up and put them somewhere where their smell will be put to good use. I'm loving the soaps on a mini bookshelf, that's fab!
I use soap, so have no trouble using it.
I know someone who makes their own using goat milk. It lasts so much longer than shower gel and no plastic.

I've heard the Pokemon cards are worth a bomb.
Funny though as some stuff that used to be worth a lot isn't. For example I have an almost complete collection of Walter Scott books circa 1815 - but according to a few places I've looked they are practically worthless! They have been passed down in our family - and now I have them but wanted to see what they were worth out of curiosity.
I reckon ebay did away with a lot of things being worth something simply because the market place is flooded.
I also have a collection of Royal Mail fancy stamp sets that are collectors editions - from 1981 to 1990 but again, they don't seem to be worth anything.
It's always worth what someone wants to pay. Not everyone is online selling, I hear a lot about resellers on vinted being the issue for charity shops. But a buyer is a buyer.
When I did ebay, I rarely if ever sold anything in the county I lived in.
I still donate to charity. If they sell it on and someone can sell it again, good luck. It's a lot of work for a small return. Been there, had fun done that.

I don't bother selling on ebay any more. It got too much like hard work and it was difficult to keep someone happy even if they were only spending £5! LOL. Plus up here we don't have a proper main post office - it got taken over last year and turned into a debacle and then allegedly now its under new ownership but how long that will last who knows! They did have a post office counter part in one of the local small shops but the person running it was like a rottweiler with customers and I found then off putting. Allegedly that has since changed hands but once bitten and all that................... 🤭 😫

The go to now seems to be vinted. A friend was telling me it's much better set up than fb marketplace and ebay. They sold loads through it. There currently in the process of moving to downsize so shes used the make me an offer catergory. People can even bundle stuff together or something. She's sold loads of odds and sods that she thought would be going to the tip. But someone's rubbish is someone else's wants.

We have a local facebook group where people sell or give stuff away. I managed to off load a large item to a neighbour which was great because I'd never have taken it anywhere like a charity shop as I'm not even sure they'd have accepted it as a donation.
I still like looking on ebay and have one or two marked sellers that I go back to. But I wouldn't be bothered about selling on other platforms either, all the postage and packing is such a faff here.
Lol if I were brave enough I'd have a tack / yard sale and have a huge overhaul of things. It would require some better weather though!

I don't feel on ebay anymore either. Been there, had fun, done and dusted with it.
I have actually bought three things from fb market place.

I love a yard sale although I don't need anything 😆 🤣

We will see. The other day I was thinking by next summer I could start looking. Finance wise I should be able to afford it as I will be debt and mortgage free if everything falls into place in the next few months. However it will depend on my living arrangements and git of a brother. If he doesnt change his ways I will say sod it. Put everything on the market and sell up. If that happens I will probably decided to never have another animals in my life. Will find a tiny little town house or I may even buy a camper van and spend a few years travelling round the country. I'm at a point in life where I need to start living what I have left and do what I want for myself.

I lived in a caravan for four years and it was great - I'm glad I did because it made me realise what I can live with and without. Not quite the same as a camper van but I see where you're coming from. Sometimes it feels like life is so short doesn't it and you just need to do what you want to do. If you did sell up and move to the town you can always take riding lessons. Or keep one on a yard?
