I put the search term Argos into a well known secondhand site and was shocked to see people listing and actually bidding on the old catalogues 😆
If you have any stuffed away in a cupboard or loft, it could sell for £40 😆 🤣
Why anyone would want it, any guesses?

Yes I buy the occasion old postcards as I like to look back and do then and now photos. Once done they can be sold on again / donated.
The odd old book to read.
But I don't but anything that can't be used.

Do you collect anything more unusual?

I used to collect vintage Laura Ashley blouses (which I did wear!) but got shut of that now, just kept one which is a favourite every summer.
I do collect old soap and by that I mean circa 1975 - 1999 ish.
I have several complete sets from Boots the chemist. Fascinating because I remember coveting them as a child. I came from a large family and all old siblings who had these things gifted and I always wanted! Lol so now I have them. I have begun to use some of the soap - part of me thought a shame as out of production etc. But part things go on - use them.
It all started with Grossmith White Rose and Cucumber. My nan used to take me onto the market as a kid and I loved the smell of that one and wanted so badly to smell it again. Found some, it kind of smells like it a bit, but of course its old and faded.
Sometimes it goes for a fortune on fleabay.
I set limits though.

Mr T used to collect Toby jugs but we have loads now and won't probably buy anymore.

Yes, I can believe folk buying old Argos catalogues lol
I guess for some its a form of time travel.

They live in the bathroom. I'll take a photo of my flock.

I also collect soap. I love soap. Real triple milled expensive soap. I have a secret stash (that I like to think no one knows about). I have three small drawers full of soap. Soap is so beautiful smelling and makes me feel expensive.

We collected souvenir china from World War 1 - guns, tanks, ships etc. with town crests. We started when living in Belgium in the 1960s and eventually donated the collection to an educational museum charity where school children come to learn about trench warfare in WW1 and explore a net work of trenches.

I have a stash of soap Gallet being a favourite but I do use as it will lose smell in the end won’t it.

Roget et Gallet is a firm favourite. They don't make it the same imho. Their malmaison was my favourite.
I know what you mean. I have a box of the Farina (gorgeous red box) and I am sure scent has changed, but that could just be as I've not used it fast enough. I also used to love Bronnley but they changed and their lemon shaped soap isn't the same as it was. I am sure they mixed in lime there. Hahhaa, soap - who knew there were so many nuances............

I had soaps in all my draws. My mum told me years ago to put them in each draw to make my clothes smell nice. Some of mine were almost vintage. A family friend use to put them in as a Christmas present as well as her charity shop practical gifts for me when I was a kid. She died some 25 years ago. Your right though some have lost there smell. Ive actually been trying to save money recently so rather than buy soap I've actually been using them out of my draws.

Yes my mum told me to put soap in my drawers too lol.
Don't know if you are old enough to remember the pictorial soaps? With the transfer on the front? I had some as presents when I was about ten - they had a very distinctive scent. There were some with flowers on and I think I also had the Avon soaps that were fruits.

they did change! I ordered the Fern box and it is not the same at all, though they say they haven't changed anything. Hmmm. I do not believe them.

I also collect Kappus soaps - I have sheepy ones and pony ones. Those are on a shelf running alongside my stairs. Haven't seen any for sale in a while though.

I've never heard of collecting soaps but I kind of want to do it now! I have a mini collection of unbranded soaps that I pick up on craft stalls at shows because they smell lovely but then it seems a shame to use them so they're just sadly stashed away in the storage cupboard, out of sight, out of mind. Maybe I should collect them up and put them somewhere where their smell will be put to good use. I'm loving the soaps on a mini bookshelf, that's fab!

Oh, actually I came on here to see if the guy who just sold his collections of pokemon cards had been mentioned. He collected them back in the day and had them stashed in his attic until he put them to auction. I'm sure it said he got over £1m for one of his sets.

ETA I can't get over the fact that someone would pay that much just for a set of pretty cards. Is it an investment? Surely it wouldn't make you a million pounds worth happy just to look at some cards ... struggling to get over it.

I've heard the Pokemon cards are worth a bomb.
Funny though as some stuff that used to be worth a lot isn't. For example I have an almost complete collection of Walter Scott books circa 1815 - but according to a few places I've looked they are practically worthless! They have been passed down in our family - and now I have them but wanted to see what they were worth out of curiosity.
I reckon ebay did away with a lot of things being worth something simply because the market place is flooded.
I also have a collection of Royal Mail fancy stamp sets that are collectors editions - from 1981 to 1990 but again, they don't seem to be worth anything.

I was going to say I love Bromley or Bronnley is it?
