Jacobs' Diary

I've an airowear outlyne, think it was quite a bit more than £100 but doubt one would fit you Jacob as they are made to fit ladies. I wear mine for hacking and jumping too, used to wear it for everything but tend not to bother for schooling which is silly really as I wouldn't school without my hat.

That is good Jacob :)

I tried on loads of body protectors and couldn't find one to fit (I am quite petite and most were too long on me). I phoned up Treehouse Sporting Colours and gave them my measurements and they told me I'd fit into a Childs XL long back Racesafe. That is what I got and it is the best BP I've tried on. Racesafes have a lot of different size options so they are definitely worth a look. I think when I got mine over 3 years ago it was £110 (£130ish for an adults). I don't know what the price is now.

Personally I don't like wearing one. I find it so much easier to move with the horse without one. I generally go without unless I have to wear one (so for XC).

Thanks everyone! I figured that getting to know a lot more about horses and looking after them etc.. would be a good idea!

And thanks Rubic I'm still looking for one! :)

This is how it all starts Jacob, you'll be looking for a share next and then after that it will just be a matter of time before nothing else in the world matters as much as your horse :) Good luck for Friday.

Be fully aware that horses mean you are permanently poor, have hay in the oddest of places about your person and become totally unaware of the smell of horse wee but everyone around you notices and are generally too polite to mention

It's a great way for Jacob to meet young, fit, women though isn't it? ;)

Went down to the yard this evening for a few hours, got to tack up, un-tack, lead, and brush one of the ponies. Did lots of hard work filling hay nets and sweeping the indoor stables.

It was really interesting learning about the horses and I can't wait for my riding lesson on Sunday!

Well I had a bit of an interesting lesson today. I wasn't on my normal horse, but on the horse which I'd had for my first ever lesson; and he's notoriously stubborn. I really had to squeeze and kick him to get him just to walk, and we'd normally manage about half a circuit in trot before he decided to stop and walk wherever he liked. But I did carry on and kept trying to keep him on track even when he did trip over his feet and rear a little bit!
