Wood green animal centre

Following on from my earlier thread on rescue dogs - has anyone any experinces of wood green animal rescue? Near cambridge?

There are a few dogs on here but again, are they suitable for a first time owner (no kids (not yet!), own house, partner visits, would accompany me to stables maybe walk/run alongside horse, go out for walks with me and OH, would be in but not more than 4 hours without a visit - i live a mile and a half from work)

awww i love them alll...what about Frank...sounds like what you need, except from the staying in the house but maybe you could ask about training him etc and perhaps take a holiday off work when you get him and build up leaving him in for the 4 hours or so?

Not had any experience with this place but hopefully someone on here will have and might help you!

We know people who have had pets from there and their ok. All rescue places say that the dogs shouldn't be left for longer than a few hours, but ours are ok from 8 until 4/5/6 so I don't see a problem. Leave them with toys and do some training just before you leave so they have someting to think about and then again when you get home so they don't get board and destructive.
The people who run it seem ok so I would say investigate it further.

Well Frank seems to have disappeared!!! Harvey looks lovely but would he get on with horses? If he is excitable and a little "undersocialised with other dogs" then it may not be the best combination. Why not phone up and ask what they think...if they've handled him etc then they might be able to shed some light on the situation and help you choose?

I have never rehomed from Wood Green so can't comment on that. I went there recently and really wanted to take Johnstone home but unfortunately he doesn't like horses . It left me wondering how I would get on with taking any rescue dog to the yard however they do at least have horses on site at Wood Green so you can walk the dog near and see what it does.
