We had a new pony come into the field with my two. He has a particular liking to the wooden posts and the field shelter and has eaten loads of it. Before he join us mine hadnt touched the wood but I noticed my youngster has now started to nibble. I have been told that it is because something is lacking in his diet others say bordedom. Can anybody advise before the field shelter collapses:eek:

It can be both boredom and lacking diet, as well as stress:)

I had 3 of my horses in a separate field this winter, and they completely ate all the fences even though they had never done it before:rolleyes:

Here's another vote for checking for ulcers. A pony I adored (not mine) on the last yard was a cribber until... yep ulcers were sorted.

Thing is, there's always a reason for wierd behaviour like anything. Half the battle is finding the cause.

Thank you. The new lad has moved out of my field now and I am please to say that my youngster has not been seen to eat a single piece of wood!! I will pass on comments to other owners though. Thanks all.:)
