When should I start to loan a horse?

I have been riding since I was about 5 and continued until I was 13, but had a bad fall and stopped until I found a new trainer. I am now 16 and have been riding for a while, but I was just thinking about when in the future I should think about loaning as a few of my friends own and loan horses and I asked them and they said to start looking for sometime next year as that is when I finish college. So basically if I started loaning sometime next July, I would have been with my new trainer for just over a year, but with 9 years riding total.

I am going to be starting at a yard soon (but have previously helped out on one and help out occasionally with friends horses and at my riding school), to help get my knowledge up and have been reading a lot about loaning horses or ponies.

I think your plan sounds great, you sound like you are really sensible waiting until you've finished college and sensible is a great attribute when an owner is looking for a loaner :p
