What are you reading?

I have the audio books I listen too speeded up.

I had a look and it looks like my local library uses Borrowbox rather than Libby. I remember now why I couldn't use Libby. There nearest libby library is over 50 miles away from me. I might apply for a library card and try borrowbox. Google freebie listings are still limited having looked through yesterday.

BorrowBox is good too 👍 I have a card for the county library service, it’s not limited to just the local library, so you may still find Libby works for you.

Thanks for the advice. I joined the local library service. Did it online last night, downloaded borrow box and it then let me download audios. More choice than Google books so all is good.
If i want to physically borrow books (which i dont) then i have to go into the library to upgrade the membership.

Just to update. Thanks for getting me back into the books. I seem to be listening to an audio book a day currently. Borrowbox has been working well for me so far.

I am glad it's working.
I am trying to get into reading before bed like I used to, to unwind.
Even if it's not a full chapter it's a start

Just done a tot up. I've managed to listen to 80 books so far since April, thanks to the push to get the borrowbox app.

I've never read that many in my life.

I relish my night time read. I absolutely love cozy fiction or, murder mystery. At the moment I am enjoying Shari Lapena. She's almost as addictive as Frieda Mcfadden. I tuck the cats up about quarter to eleven then stumble into bed with my Kindle device and enjoy a few chapters. It helps me sleep and relaxes me. Else I fixate on things and get no sleep bar a few ridiculous nightmare filled hours. Edited to add; I read about one a week, so hoping they either write more or I find some new authors as I'm running out fast. Good job I have a kindle else I wouldn't be able to move in the house for stacks.

I bought some books from the library. So I going to make the effort to take the book to bed and read a chapter.
The evenings are drawing in, so that will kick start things.
Plus it's wet so even more likely.

I am a fan of Dilly Court and picked up one for £1, just need to check what I have read of the series.
Would like to read all the The Number One Detective Agency

However I bought the Traitors book and Series 2 Celebrity starts October, so I need to get going on that. It's multiple choice and I really loved that as a kid (bet I am going to hate it as an adult)

Also has anyone reread any kids books they read as a child from an adult perspective?

Kids books - most definitely me. I seek solace in an easier world. I love Little House on the Prairie books, Little Women, I Capture the Castle. I had a mmigraine the other day and went to bed listening to Beatrix Potter books on BBC. It was perfect. Just the right level for my hurting head.

I've worked my way through all the Harlan Cobens - love his stories. But some have been made into Netflix which is great but, I get confused watching them and wonder if I'm mixing them up. As for reading kids stories - the only ones I would re-read are probably Mallory Towers. But they changed them to make them politically correct and they changed the currency from pounds shilling and pence. LOL. That was all part of the charm. I know they made a tv series (shudders). Okay mini rant over. I re- read Wind in the Willows often, that's one of my comfort reads along with Jamaica Inn and Frenchman's Creek.

I have just started a book called "The Exrta Ordinary Life Of Frank Derrik Age 81"
The first sentence is "On the 81st birthday of Frank Derrick he was run over by a milk float, he would have preferred a book token but it's the thought that counts"
It tickled me so I bought it from the library as they have a stall outside.

That's when I would buy the original copies, rather than making it correct.
I know the world changes, but I think we should be grown up enough to realise it changes and things back then were different.

So thinking on the audio box that some of you get on with.
Where can I get some for free initially to see if I actually like it.
Can you listen on the phone or tablet, did the library do this now?
