Kira Initial Backing summer hols 2012

Skye backed Kira Bare back and using a side pull halter in the summer hols of 2012. This was the first pony she has ever backed I was so proud of both of them.... Day one they just leaned over her tapping her sides to get her used to where her legs and heels would be end on a good note with ears forward being walked with Skye leaning over her..... Repeat Day one again on day two and this time sat up on her bless little Shakira wasn't at all fazed day 3 sit up and walk her around sitting up being lead in the school by the end of the weeks Skye was walking and trotting her bareback round the school and even popped her over a jump or two....

This week we started work on Shakira with view to re backing her and backing Stormy this spring and summer. Chelly my original rider is back and has offered to back them both then wants to compete Summer Storm once he is ready so its going to be a wonderful summer ahead watching these two learn how to be ridden ponies we are getting her used to the feel off tack as she was originally backed bareback with a side pull halter... cannot believe these babies have been with us 5 1/2 years now since they were 6 months old.

Well a little update on these two cannot believe I haven’t updated for five years...... WOW how time flies but I am sure there in my other diary “playing ponies”.

kira is now a full grown 11 year old kira has done4 show jumping classes and got 4 x 1st place and 1 hunter trials where she had one run out and was unplaced. A showing show she got 1st in concours and 3rd in M and M....Steph her rider is planning to take her to show jumping lessons.

Now Summer Storm he’s been backed 18 months since a year January he got backed at 10 years old.
